Our experience

 by  anonymous  on  2008-07-21

We stayed at NWP Resort for 5 nights, we had a wonderful time, manager Mike was courteous and helful, so did the front desk receptionist. The only thing is that our room was on the first floor next to the pool, and we wish we had another room. Overall, the experience was great. As far as the shower room, it's hard not to get water on the foor, because they made a mistake in the plan. We wish the room was bigger. We love the pool!!, fitness center is awesome!! Great job!! I cannot forget the kichen staff, great job. Housekeeper, Velma, we miss you. We cannot wait to come back to Norwest Point Resort!!!

Our experience

Staying at Northwest Point Resort was one of the highlights of our trip. As other reviewers have noted, the big plus of this resort is it's seclusion from the development and construction of Grace Bay. There are no other hotels in sight, and the resort itself only had a few dozen other guests when we were there (during peak season). Our suite had a full kitchen, American DirecTV, and wireless internet, all of which made our stay very comfortable. It was great after a long day at the beach to come home, cook a meal, and just chill out. There are a few downsides to staying here; one is that this part of the island can get windy. There were a few days that were just too windy for our beach, so on those days we just headed for Grace Bay, which is only about a 15 minute drive. All of the beaches in the bay are free with ample parking, and it's fun to go exploring. We also spent a day at nearby Malcolm Beach, just around the point; I think it is the most beautiful beach I've ever been to (although I probably said that about all the beaches on TCI). At any rate, a car is a must at this resort for those days when you want to get away from the wind. The pool area was beautiful, a bit more secluded from the wind. The breeze there was actually a plus, as the sun can just get so hot there! There were no little kids and only a few teenagers when we were there, which made for a really relaxing pool setting. The scenery is beautiful there, and the seclusion of the resort really makes it relaxing.

We came in a family of 4, my boyfriend and I, and his parents. The hotel is next to a sanctuary, so it is very quiet and serene in that area. At night the view of the moon and stars on the ocean is impressive, esp. with no light pollution. We had a 2 bedroom ocean front suite. The view was amazing, and the furniture, well appointed, comparable to a 4 star. We saw one of the 3 bedroom poolside suites, and actually the view was very nice there as well. We had satellite TV, which was great because by boyfriend's parents primarily speak spanish, and my boyfriend LOVES soccer. The kitchen was modern and clean. The managers, x and y were extremely helpful, and had great and trusted knowledge about the activities, and restaurants on the island. It is important to pick up food from the IGA supermarket, since it is about a 15 minute drive to Grace Bay, where the majority of restaurants are. The restaurant by the pool had great food, but they are only open for breakfast and lunch, so it is recommended to rent a car. Every place x referred us to had great service, food, and locale. We honestly did not feel the need to go anywhere that was not recommended (and this is coming from a group with its "explorers") There is also free wireless internet if you have your laptop, or you can use the facilities by the front desk. The grounds and pool and clean and spacious, and there is a gym as well. Some of the best snorkeling on the island is just off the coast of the hotel. There are some amazing fish and coral, and there is loaner gear at the office. Don't forget sunblock and repellant!

I have always wanted to go to an Island that you can just relax and not have a million people around. Northwest Point is the Place. I came home soooo relaxed I can't describe it. It's a beautiful resort and the staff are so helpful inmaking my vacation special. I will not hesitate to go back to Northwest Point if I ever get back to Turks and Caicos.
