GREAT LOCATION

 by  anonymous  on  2008-01-02

Great Location. Nice property. Quality of furnishings differ among buildings. Bldg 2 Ocean Front-upscale furnishings.Bldg. 3 ocean/garden view furnishings not as upscale. Restuarant is average-ok for breakfast/lunch but excellent restaurants are within walking distance up the beautiful beach. No/limited beachside food/drink service. Excursion Co. located beachside. Expansion construction non-intrusive.

GREAT LOCATION

 by  anonymous  on  2007-10-07

This was my first trip to the Turks and Caicos Island and it was my honeymoon as well. My husband and I went during hurricane season so everything was pretty low-key and personal. The weather was great, with a few overcast days, but for such extreme heat (90-100) that made it comfortable. We stayed at the Alexandra Resort which was undergoing some construction, the construction noise was extremely minimal, and there was only one day that we heard it from our hotel room. The room was really clean and spacious; the only thing I have to complain about is the bed which was rock hard. The staff was really friendly as were the people that were staying there as well. The location was excellent! Grace Bay beach was beautiful and since it was low season there were barely anybody on the beach. The pool was really pretty it's definitely a nice break if you want a day away from the salty water and it has a swim-up bar. We went snorkeling and parasailing, it was so much fun and cheap! We were even snorkeling along the beach and saw a stingray and went sand dollar diving. The cheaper places to eat were a Calico Jack's, Pizza Pizza, Tiki Hut and Angela's Deli, the bill totaled to be under * for the both of us. The Orchid had a Caribbean Cookout night on Monday night that was * per person and it was an all-you-can-eat. We didn't have enough time to eat other places. For breakfast we just went to the Graceway IGA supermartket and bought soda, snacky foods, and cereal to save some money. Most of the activities were charge by credit cards, so you really didn't need to bring a whole lot of cash. We paid for all of our food in cash though and that was roughly * for 8 days/7 nights. It's definitely a smart move to rent a car from Grace Bay Car Rentals instead of Hertz, Avis, or Budget it is far cheaper. We will mostly like go back in another couple years or so!

A place to remember!

I was very impressed with my enitre trip. Turks and Caicos has beautiful beaches and friendly people, since tourism is their main business, they make sure you feel welcome. The resort was wonderful and I can honestly say that even with 3/4 of the island under construction it will definitely NOT affect your stay. The food was okay, and in my opinion not worth the prices that you will pay, one piece of advice if you stay at the Alexandra- which has a fridge, microwave, blender, toaster, and STOVETOP and even cookware in your room, save some money by going to the supermarket which is about 10 minutes (8 cab ride) away and buying snacks and food to store in your room. I can't tell you how much we saved by fixing our own, breakfast, lunch and even a few dinners in our room. With our savings we were able to go parasailing and snorkeling. It was really great! No one bothers you and everyone is welcoming and friendly-especially other guests-LOL.It's not a party island- this is a place for resting, relaxing and reconnecting. Go to Cancun to get wild and crazy. I definitely plan on returning to this lovely island and would stay at this resort again. If you are looking for a place for a destination wedding they are most accomodating. Once again I must say, what a truly fabulous, REASONABLE island getaway it was!!!!!!!

This resort was excellent in every way. The rooms are either in new buildings or totally remodeled. Housekeeping came twice a day, so the room was very clean. Located on Grace Bay, the beach was the cleanest and one of the most beautiful on the island. The staff is over the top friendly and customer service was great. Resteraunt prices were high, but that was consistent with the rest of the island. The pool is nice and the facility altogether was very nice. There is a lot of construction going on at hotels nearby and the Alexandra is to begin a 5th building in a year. However, the construction did not interrupt activities nor was it too noisy to really complain about. In all, it was easily a phenomenal value. For the price you woory a bit about the room quality or location and quite honestly It could not have been much better.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Alexandra. The beach and the pool were beautiful. The view from our apartment was fantastic. The apartment was spacious and clean, I was very comfortaable there. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The food at their restaurant could be better, but they do have fabulous conch fritters that they serve for free on Mondays with their rum punch which is also excellent.I would go again as the resort is growing and I feel that they will only get better.

My husband and myself were at this hotel for 5 nights. Everyone was very friendly (Carlos the bell man was very friendly and helpful). The ocean had the clarity of drinking water! Snorkeling was amazing, you don't have to walk but maybe 10 minutes to an amazing reef. The beach was very beautiful and not crowded at all. Food was good, we ate there for almost every meal. We will be returning many more times!!
