Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui is located on Chewang Beach, approximately 15 minutes from Samui Airport and 30 minutes from the Samui ferry pier. Koh Samui is roughly 430 miles south of Bangkok. Other than relaxing on the beach, where a range of watersports and dive center are, recreational facilities include a swimming pool, children's pool, playroom, playground, outdoor hot tub, and two tennis courts. A fitness center and sauna, as well as Centara Spa with a wide range of treatments, complete the host of leisure facilities on offer. The hotel also offers a gift shop, pro shop, shuttle bus to Butterfly Garden, tour desk, and Thai cooking class. For on-site dining, the resort has four restaurants (for casual western and Asian, traditional Thai and seafood, Brazillian bar and grill, and Japanese cuisine), two smaller eateries (a coffee shop and beachside snack bar), and three bars (a swim-up bar in the pool, an Internet lounge, and a lobby bar with a live band). Central Samui Beach Resort offers 208 sea-facing rooms. Standard features in all rooms include multi-channel satellite TV, in-room video movies, music channels, minibars, tea and coffee facilities, and safes.

Nice rooms, good beach resort
The nicest thing about this hotel is its beach, which is clean with a great view of the Gulf of Thailand. The beach could use some additional umbrellas though, as there was not enough for all the guests. The pool area was also quite good. Located on the southern part of Chaweang, it does require a bit of a walk to get to the central part of the town.I also liked the comfortable room I stayed in, although my room was located on the lobby floor which did not allow me to have a full view of the Gulf. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and good ammenities in the bathroom. Internet access was wireless, atlhough the hotel charges extra for access.The breakfast buffet was WONDERFUL, providing both Thai and Asian breakfast with an excellent variety of dishes. Guests can enjoy sitting outside on the patio for breakfast.I had a meeting in the hotel. The meeting room was excellent, and the service by the catering staff was great.A couple of improvements would have pushed up the rating: reception insisted I pay by cash or another credit card when they could not get approval using their machine (they could have called AMEX and get a verbal approval). I asked twice for a dry-cleaning form, but it was never delivered and ultimately I didn't dry clean my linen shirt. I think the holel only has laundry forms since people in resorts tend to wear very casual clothes. Overall I recommend this hotel.
Nice rooms, good beach resort
The hotel was a little dated but the rooms have been recentley refurbished and all have a nice balcony. Almost all were within 30 metres of the beach. Beautiful clean and clear blue water in the ocean in addition to a very nice pool. There were lots of quite places on the beach or just off the beach to the lounge the day away. With lots of oppourtunities to sit in the shade or the sun! The beach was gorgeous with white soft sand and was long enough for a good afternoon stroll. The hotel is situated right in the middle of a shopping district with lots of classic Thai shopping, restaurants and bars. The staff were great. Will go back for sure.
Stayed here for a four day meeting but managed to squeeze in some beach time as well as a few rounds of golf.The hotel is centrally located on a great beach and is near the only nightlife on the island. The best part of the resort has to be the rooms. The beds, linens and pillows we top quality - wide choice of pillows as well as 400 threadcount sheets. The bathroom had a nice shower with the rain style showerhead. High quality toiletries were included.High speed wireless internet was available throughout the resort for an additional fee.The meeting facilities were what you would expect from a resort hotel masquerading as a business facility....but good enough to facilitate productive meetings for small to medium sized groups.Food was good - although I only sampled breakfast and lunch - opting to go out for dinner.Enjoy!
