Great Service, Great Night's Sleep!

Was not aware of charge for parking prior to our arrival. We were not able to use fitness area or have access to a computer because of construction in these areas. We would have liked to have known this prior to booking this hotel.
My wife and I found the Sheraton to be very unassuming from the outside blending in well with somewhat shabby surroundings. The interior , what we could see of it ,was immaculate and luxurious. We could nlt seer much of the lobby because much of it was draped with cloth barriers due to construction. Our room was spotless and spacious , the busy road noise was minimal, and the king sized bed excellent. We were disappointed there was no bathroom exhaust which turned tbe entire room into a sauna after showerung. The most notable detractor to the Anchorage Sheraton for us was the distance from the airport. Not so much in miles but in dollars. The Sheraton has no airport pick up so be prepared to shell out 20 each way plus tips in cab fares.
It was our first trip to Alaska, and I was a bit nervous about the hotel's quality. Upon arrival, we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean and comfortable, although a room chair needed replacing (broken arm). Additionally, our room was not cleaned for one day, but upon contacting front desk, they immediately had the room serviced. The bar should stay open later than 11:00pm, but the bartender did serve us past closing time. Overall, I would definitely stay there again, and the staff are a credit to this establishment.
In a location where most tourist accommodations and activites are over-priced, the Sheraton Anchorage provides good value for the price. The cost of the room defitiely puts it into the luxury category for my budget, but the hotel delivers a high quality experience both in the quality of the room and its furnishings, and the quality of the attention provided by the hotel staff. Great beds - I slept like a baby.
Web site lists free local phone calls - NOT. Card by phone lists charges, turns our the web site was outdated. Plus you pay 10 per day to park, PLUS internet is 10 per day, PLUS no free Contential breakfast - went to the lobby counter looking for breakfast, went where directed, Breakfast buffet for ONE was about 16 - way too much for a scoop of yogert and 3 pieces of fruit, PLUS we had to ask twice for wash cloths. Room was comfortable, but for the price I'll find somewhere else to stay next time.
The clam chowder at the restaurant is the best in the world. Couldn't get enough of it.
