The Puffin Inn is conveniently located near the Ted Steven's International Airport and Lake Hood and just 10 minutes from downtown Anchorage, shopping and the Anchorage Railroad. It's still just a short drive from scenic Alaska and all of its natural beauty. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, the Puffin Inn has 4 distinct room styles to perfectly suit your needs. Our deluxe section, built in 2001, has spacious, attractively appointed rooms with many comfortable features. Offering a unique blend of comfort and privacy, the Chandler Inn, which houses our boutique style rooms, is a small, completely separate building 1/2 block from the Puffin Inn. The moderate section building was built in 1984 and remodeled in the spring of 2002. These spacious rooms have exterior entrances making them ideal for hunters, fishermen or families with a lot of gear. While much older and smaller, our original section rooms are a bargain for the budget traveler. Newly remodeled in 2006, these rooms are ideal for” when just a bed will do”. All Puffin Inn rooms styles are Nonsmoking. Independently owned and operated, the Puffin Inn’s dedicated owner, management and staff have been serving the needs of visitors to Alaska for over 20 years.

I stayed with my 4-yr-old son for two nights. Room was clean and nice. The staff were AWFUL and had their friends hanging around, monopolizing the lobby. Cheap rates, decent rooms, but be prepared.

First of all Unprofessional staff, rooms that were offered were unacceptable. Would not call the head boss! Stunk really bad smelled like it was not cleaned at all. The floors felt like they were about to break. Did not stay here, Thank GOD!! I do not recommend this to my worst enemy!! Staff need major improvement on customer service. Called a taxi for myself to find a better place & Staff!

We booked the hotel on line for a Deluxe room with Queen bed, kitchenette, and jacuzzi tub ( well that's what the room decription said) and were given a moderate. Customer service clerk told us that we would be charged 59.99 a night and I was over charged 20.00 per night. WhenI contacted customer service and the hotel manager they would only credit us back 40.00 and taxes. Beware of staying here. There are many nice hotels in Anchorage!

 by  anonymous  on  2007-08-02

Unprofessional staff since we did not approve of the rooms that we were given. It is a run down old motel, and the rooms did not smell like they were clean. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.

 by  anonymous  on  2007-07-20

Nice, quiet, clean room near the airport. The staff is wonderful, and the owner is very friendly and he was on sight the night we were there. (The owner is a Texas Aggie, and that made home seem nearer.) We stayed in the deluxe (new) part of the Inn; however, the older rooms looked clean and are less expensive. The exercise room was enjoyable for my nephew, and although quite hot, there is a laundry on sight also. If you are looking for a good place to stay near the airport, for one of the more reasonable prices in Anchorage/area, you should consider staying at the Puffin Inn. There is a 24 hour a day airport shuttle available, and the shuttle driver, like the rest of the staff, is very nice and helpful. Going to Anchorage? Think "Puffin Inn"!!

 by  anonymous  on  2006-08-02

The staff was excellent. I came in on a very late flight after 1am. Most hotels were full, but when I called the Puffin a guests had just checked out, and the staff cleaned the room within 1/2 hour so I could get some needed rest.Room was comfortable and clean, and the hot waffles were great in the morning.
