I arrived Friday morning and played a round of golf with friends. Very enjoyable and Golf staff was excellent. After golf I went to desk and tried to check in early (not possible), so my friends and I had lunch at the Silo which was good. After lunch we tried again to check in at the front desk approximately 3:30 pm. The room was not clean yet. Two friends and I waited in the lobby for 30 minutes. I discussed the possibility of a late checkout with the female desk clerk at that time and she said "not a problem". When I finally got to the room it appeared cleaned so I threw my bag down relaxed for a few minutes and went out again to meet some friends at the bar. At about 6 pm my wife checked in at the desk and went to the room. She opened the refrigerator and saw a sandwich in a box. Thinkng it was mine left over from lunch she ate it. When she told me later, I informed her it wasn't mine and she was concerned how long it had been in there. I played golf on Saturday and she went to town. Afterwards (about 12:30) my wife went to check out and was informed of the additional 1/2 day fee for a late checkout. I tried calling the desk manager and hotel manager and neither returned my call. The front desk manager was very defensive when I finally contacted her 3 days later. She told me that her staff would never approve a late checkout, even though her clerk did on Friday. The hotel is excellent, but they need new management at the front desk. First impressions are important!
