This was an excellent hotel for a getaway! Beautiful rooms and beautiful scenery. Great restaurants to choose from. We ate at all but one and had great food each time. Friendly staff and good service. We enjoyed the pool and walking trails. We liked their stargazing by the pool on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The concierge was also very helpful. My only criticism would be the charge for the use of the fitness facilities. I would definitely stay there again!

Overall, my husband and I LOVED the Ventana. We upgraded to the deluxe room, but were a little disappointed in the first room we are given since it had a cruddy view of the poolside bar and was very loud. (Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened when when we have booked through the travel website or other online services). However, when I asked to change rooms, they moved us immediately without any argument and the second room was fantastic. Our room had a balcony with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The lounge area downstairs is very comfortable any time of day (not just cocktail time) and the poolside area is equally comfortable, even if you don't plan to swim. There are also a couple of nice, easy trails on the property with lots of information about local flora, fauna and wildlife. We did not eat at the Coyote Cafe because the menu looked like pretty pedestrian hotel fare. Rather, we had breakfast in the Villa Barista coffee bar. For lunch, the poolside restaurant (Bill's something or other) is quite tasty and fairly reasonable by resort standards. We did not dine at the Ventana Room, but did have dinner one night at the Flying V. The food was quite good, but on a Saturday night we felt very rushed when our food came out in pretty rapid succession. Reservations are STRONGLY recommended. The spa was fantastic. Both my husband and I had massages and facials and it was a great experience. We also made a trip to the Sedona Desert Museum, which I highly recommend. Overall, the Ventana was a wonderful, very relaxing weekend

We travel as a family with 2 teenagers and a college student so it's almost impossible to please all of us . . . Ventana Canyon did it. This place is sensational. It's America's first "green" hotel so you can indulge yourself and be guilt free. The location is amazing. We went hiking and tried horseback riding at nearby Sabino Canyon. You can even charge your riding bill to your room. The most common remark we heard while visiting was how wonderful the service is and we agree. Our favorite feature of the hotel was the incredible food. The Ventana Room is one of the country's few 5 diamond dining rooms and a very special experience. Is the Ventana Room expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes again. Our family favorite was the more casual Flying V. Amazing food by an up and coming southwest cuisine star, Chef Alexis Martinez. Try the tableside guacamole; I think it's on the menu in heaven. Overall the hotel is a great value and wonderful experience. We found the hotel to be a great value for a luxury resort and a wonderful experience. It's one of the few hotels we've ever found where it seems the entire staff just "gets it right". Whatever you do, don't forget the camera! The surrounding scenery is unbelievable. This hotel is a hidden jewel to most of us on the East Coast. It should be on any list of Florida alternatives. Considering the level of service, quality of food, range of activities, beauty of the surroundings and value . . . we're stunned that there aren't crowds lined up in the parking lot waiting for rooms to become available! Check out the sunset music of Tucson singer Katy Martin in the lobby lounge and look for special daily events.

The resort was wonderful...room service was pricey and the food (especially the pancakes were bad!) Besides that our room was beautiful, the surroundings were great and the pool was nice!

 by  anonymous  on  2007-07-02

This hotel is located in the hills of tuscon offering lovely views of the city at night. Rooms were clean, bed comfy The service was 5 star! The valets opened doors and remembered our names, the front desk was great and even the waitstaff including the busboys were very friendly! The only wierd thing- The concierge service (we dealt with 3 different people that we spoke to at verious times) were polite... each time they made us feel we were inconviencing them. Wierd! The waiter at brunch was more excited about helping us decide what to see and do in Tucson.

 by  anonymous  on  2007-03-02

Great location, beautiful hotel, excellent service. Flying V very good. That said, the Ventana Room offers all the worst of an overpriced, snobby restaurant. Miniscule portions, average food, slow service. It took longer to listen to the waiter describe the food than eat it. "
