Not sub-par, but it's basically an average Hilton resort on a golf course. Granted, the golf course is Torrey Pines. If you're looking for an average...

Travelocity Reviews ( 5 Reviews ) Top

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a great time. We didn't golf, but walked around on the course. I didn't feel like the course was all that great, but I don't golf. We ate at the bar restaurant and the food was awful! Not only that but the service was terrible and when the waitress finally came she spilt my drink. The hotel is in an out of the way location - we had to drive 15 minutes to get to the La Jolla cove beaches. We never did make it to the reserve to walk around, as there were no trails / signs around the hotel that we could see. You must have to drive there. Also not within walking distance to any restaurants. If you stay here you will need a car. They charge some outrageous parking fees, I forget exactly but I think it was around 20+ per day. Also, they had kids activities on the grass directly outside our room. Sure, it's great that they take the kids so the parents can go get drunk and party, but keep the kids contained somewhere where they aren't going to be bothering other guests. This was an extreme nuisance. We could see the water from the room, but it was pretty far off in the distance. The room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. They brought us robes - but we had to call and ask for them. They gave us an hour later check out time when I asked. One thing to note, this is a non-smoking hotel. They will charge you if they even think you were smoking in the room. We were worried about this and made sure to keep the sliding door closed while smoking.

The hotel is beautiful in addition to the view, but is approximately 5 miles from absolutely anything. Transportation is a must. Schedule their free shuttle in advance or rent a car. Gorgeous hotel and area.

16 dollars a day for parking! we left dissapointed with the additional expense. Then we came home and were again charged for it on our credit card. No beach access, Not kid or senior citizen friendly. Great for couples. Service was great, they really treat you well. We came back from the town and found two girls in the hall way, sitting on the floor. The need to monitor.

This hotel was so clean, the rooms were so clean we were amazed, the view from our balcony was breathtaking, and the service from everyone that worked there was top notch; they made us feel like we were movie stars. We will be staying at this hotel everytime we visit San Diego.

 by  anonymous  on  2006-04-02

The hotel is above average, but closer to 3.25 stars than 4 stars. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the walls let in a bit too much noise. The Sunday brunch is very good, but overpriced by about 10 for what you get. The map shows that it is close to the ocean. It looks like all rooms have a partial ocean view, but there is no access to the beach (golf course gets in the way)., except for a 45 minute walk to a park.
