Located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter and the epicenter of San Diego nightlife, the new Hard Rock Hotel San Diego is taking shape and turning up the volume. Its where rock star service meets urban chic design with every amenity and is the perfect antidote to the elitist boutique hotel or plain vanilla resort experience.Although Hard Rock Hotel is conveniently located to all attractions, activities and party spots, there is little reason to leave the hotel. At Nobu San Diego, world-renowned and famously acclaimed Nobu Matsuhisa brings his signature nouveau Japanese cuisine to the citys culinary-scape. Enjoy 207 and Float located at the pool bar. For more casual fare, Maryjanes Coffee Shop serves up fun style, fresh attitude and food without rules. The 420-room hotel, including 176 suites (one designed by the Black Eyed Peas) also features an incomparable in-room experience. Each room features 300-thread-count cotton Sleep Like A Rock linens, m-bar (a greenroom-inspired refreshment center) and sensually styled bathrooms. In-room amenities include an integrated video and sound systems including 42 inch LG flatscreen HDTVs, wired and wireless Internet access, extensive satellite TV access, video on-demand, video games and Jack Pack technology that allows plug-and-play access from your personal audio player (iPod or MP3), video camera, notebook computer or portable gaming system to the media hub. Rollaway beds are request only, not guaranteed and are available for King bedded rooms only. 30 per night charge for a rollaway in room. Resort fee is 17 per room per night. The Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego is the In-Place. The location is great at the entrance to Gaslamp Quarter and could not be better. It is very conviently located next to the harbor, near Petco Park, across from the Covention Center and access to the trolly and trains. There is plenty to do in and near the hotel. The hotel and room decor is very nice and modern with lots of high-tech touches. Rooms were very nice and new but not much storage space or drawers. If you are stying several days this can be a problem. The bathroom lighting at the mirror and sink was dim and could be better. However, the ceiling shower-head was awesome. The bed, mattress and pillows were very comfortable. You have to be careful when going around the bed because the frame is a wood platform that stands out and you can easliy stub your toes or hit your shins. Also, the flatscreen TV in the room was great. Nice view from the room and a private balcony, If you want to be at the In-place and be where the action is then the Hard Rock is for you. The week days were a little quiter and there was better service. The weekend Fri and Sat nights were very noisy and hopping at 2:00 - 3:00 am. Many drunk people running up and down the halls and rawdy. I would rate it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Even though it's labeled under business, I aslo got a mini vacation out of my trip. I went for a conference, and booked my flight and hotel through Yahoo! Travel. The name kind of scared me off at first becuase I was thinking it's a restaurant, right? It turned out I had made a great decision by staying at the Hard Rock. The setting is totally unlike any hotel I have been to before. It's all centered around music, and that was perfect for me. The room was very comfortable, so much so that it was hard getting up for the actual conference itself. The maids checked the rooms twice a day, and I especially appreciated the complimentary water left for me each day of my stay, as well as the CD and lollipops that were given to me also. There's a party up at the pool almost every night; just put your name on the list before 6pm. The restaurants in the area were excellent, and there was so much to do in the Gaslamp Quarter. If you're there, you have got to eat at the MaryJane. The breakfast rocks!! And the hotel is not too far from the zoo and Sea World I think. Oh, and the baseball stadium is like just a hop, skip, and a jump away. When I was there, the Dodgers played the San Diego Pedros, providing lots of entertainment fro the weekend. The memorabilia from different musicians was what I appreciated most. On the whole, the Hard Rock Hotel was the bomb!!! If you're thinking about staying there, do so. You won't regret it.

Hard Rock Hotel San Diego' location is great - surrounded by the Convention Center, Petco Park and the Gaslamp Quarter. Right by the trolly stop and the bay is just a short walk. So there is plenty to do. Plus the hotel seems to generates it' s own energy.Very sleek, with lots of high-tech touches. Provides the perfect setting for a weekend escape from reality! We were definitly older than nearly everyone here, but the people watching was great.Rooms were very nice and modern, service helpful. As a guest you can have your name added to the prefered list for hte bars. This seems a bit frivolous until we saw the line stretching half way down the block!Drinks and food here are expensive, but there are plenty of other options nearby. The roof top pool/bar is amazing.

My boyfriend and I arrived to "bad news" - due to our late arrival and the hotel's high occupancy level, we had been upgraded to a suite at no extra charge! Our suite was fabulous - very modern and contemporary, comfy chic couch, trendy in-room bar, huge flatscreen, private balcony, awesome ceiling shower-head. The bed was very comfy - my only criticism is as a result of my own clumsiness - it is a platform bad, so be careful going around the corners or you may crack your ankle on the wood! The service was fantastic from the valet, concierge, front desk and housekeeping staff. Not once we were made to feel anything less than royalty. You could not ask for a better location in the Gaslamp District - if you want to be where the action is, but still want a quiet and classy room, the Hard Rock is for you! We will definitely stay there again, and will recommend this hotel to anyone we know visiting the lovely city that is San Diego.

This hotel sets the new standard for San Diego. It has by far the best location you can ask for. Steps from the convention center and Petco Park. We walked out the front door and were in the Gaslamp District with unlimited choices of resturants and bars. The staff was great and the rooms have spectacular views of your choice. We had a view of the pool and downtown. You have to check out the rainfall shower. Everything was first class. This hotel is the place to stay. We were expecting a lot because of the hype and the price and we were very happy with our stay. We will be going back very soon.
