The Hotel Occidental offers travelers many values at very affordable rates. Our brand new hotel has guest rooms that include kitchenettes, sinks, refrigerators, microwaves and personal in-room safes. We offer FREE local calling with voicemail, FREE wireless and data ports, and FREE cable TV and DVD players in guest rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned with ceiling fans. We are located close to the harbor and only blocks from Balboa Park, and a healthy walk to the World Famous San Diego Zoo, Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center, Little Italy, Hillcrest, and lots of shopping. Great restaurants and exciting nightlife attractions are nearby. We are close to all major highways and a train station and bus station are less than 2 miles from the airport. Our friendly professional staff works 24 hours 7 days a week to assist you with arrangements, reservations, directions and help to make sure you enjoy your stay. Special services include a business center, DVD library, laundry service, same day dry cleaning, grocery service, ATM, vending machines and ice machines. Cash deposits will be required if guest does not have a credit card to charge or authorize. Guest is required to hold all reservations with a credit card, however cash, travelers checks are accepted at check-in.

My Mom and I stayed here when we were visiting family in the area. The rooms were clean and quaint. The bathrooms were clean and you shared them with maybe 3 or 4 other rooms.The continental breakfast was nothing spectacular, but it was nice to have a free meal every morning! The area isn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend walking around there at night. Take a taxi if you want to go out at night!
Excellent staff and service. Rooms were clean but could use a little refreshing (missing window blind, broken trashcan lid, tired carpet). Overall, funky little hotel with very attractive lobby and common areas. Enjoyed stay and would definitely return.
Bathrooms down the hall worked better than I expected. Clean and no waiting - but bring a bathrobe for the walk in the hall. Staff very helpful and friendly. Too much sweet stuff at breakfast. Need to add bagels or toast.

I was looking for a hotel after I had just drove down from WA. I found this hotel by luck and was surprised to get such a great deal in San Diego without a reservation. The staff was wonderful, the manager would come into the breakfast room just to see if everything was great
Me and my husband just spent a week here at this cute little European Botique. The rates were the best I have ever seen in San Diego, the hotel provides so many extras and the staff is helpful in all your planning. The value this hotel has to offer is great! We stayed in a room with a shared bath to save and it was so clean and nice. I will return here soon.
