Sommerset Suites is a charming all-suites hotel located in the Uptown/Hillcrest area of San Diego just minutes from the airport, convention center and San Diego Zoo. We are in an area surrounded by restaurants and shopping and are located just 2 blocks from Scripps Mercy Hospital and the UCSD Medical Center. Our 80 spacious suites offer ideal accommodations whether traveling on business or pleasure. All suites include a full kitchen, data port, hair dryer and iron/ ironing board. We offer a complimentary continental breakfast each day and also an Evening Social Hour with complimentary beer, wine, soda and snacks. Our relaxing courtyard has a heated pool and Jacuzzi along with a barbeque area. Located in the Uptown/Hillcrest area of San Diego.

Every staff member I encountered smiled and was very helpful. It was very obvious that they believe the guest comes first. The room was spacious and very clean. Everything was so white I was afraid I'd get it dirty! The kitchen was very nice and even included a dishwasher. Unfortunately I didn't bring dishwasher soap so I settled for washing by hand. That was the one drawback-they didn't include dishwashing soap or dishrags. The free breakfast was also nice and even included fresh-made waffles! The bed was very comfortable and had lots of pillows. I really enjoyed this hotel and would highly recommend it. I do want to mention one thing that isn't mentioned in the travel website description: If you have a car they charge * per night for parking. Not terrible, but if you are on a tight budget it's best to be prepared.
The rooms are roomy by San Diego standards. Don't expect luxury here. Furnishings are very spartan. The pool area was nice once they fixed the issue with the hottub. The neighborhood has interesting restaurants and shopping nearby. They close the breakfast about 15 minutes earlier than they post on the board which can catch you unaware
My husband and I stayed here from 05/02 - 05/06; we loved it! The staff is awesome and the complimentary breakfast is fantastic. Rooms are very clean. Very close to Balboa Park/San Diego Zoo; easy freeway access. Try not to get a room too close to the pool, the kids are kind of loud. You'll love staying @ this hotel.
My husband and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel and loved it. The staff was so willing to help and listened. The rooms were clean. There's a great complimentary breakfast and social hour; it's great. This hotel is close to freeways for easy travel and a stones throw away from Balboa Park/San Diego Zoo; we loved it!
