Whether you are traveling to Yosemite National Park in the summer, or are looking for an affordable and comfortable place to stay on your winter vacation, the Yosemite Gateway Motel is the perfect spot. We are located in the middle of town in Lee Vining, and we are the only motel in town that overlooks Mono Lake - with spectacular views from almost every room.

Go for Room 12! It's farthest from the highway and looks out (hangs over) Lee Vining Creek and the lake. It's a great birdwatching spot and the veranda...
This is an older motel in Lee Vining that evidently sells out most nights due to the proximity to the entrance to Yosemite and other popular area...
This place may seem cute, but stay somewhere else! The rooms smell like they have not been deep cleaned since 1967 and the constant traffic of the highway...

Nobody there cares about customers, even the owner. Phone is answered by voice mail only, and you shouldn't wait for somebody to call you back! I tried to talk to personnel over the phone all day, I left voice messages with my information and didn't get needed help. After 2 days I finally talked to the owner, to find out that it's my fault that I didn't get help on time! Only if you don't know were to throw away your money, in that case you can throw them away in this hotel, or better give it to charity, at least it will make somebody feel good.
Where do I begin? The room cost 122.00 a night and it was not clean when we arrived at 3:00 pm. (check-in is at 2:00 pm). The heater was broken (though the owner left a post-it note to warn us), the bathroom was stained and tiles were missing, the bed was hard and rippled. The back door had been kicked in from the prior occupant. Through the closed door, a large gap at the doorframe allowed cold air to enter the room. An oscillating fan stood in the corner of each room as air conditioning was absent. The motel is in a general state of disrepair. I have stayed at many places in and around Yosemite and have never paid so much for such a dump. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.
This motel was a great alternative to the overpriced crazy winter scene in Mammoth yet still close to skiing, etc!
