Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra dollars to stay at a different hotel. I made reservations online and paid 40 less than my friends who stayed at a different hotel. When I checked in at the front desk, the guy said "wait", then came back 5 minutes later. The guy says "oh I didn't know if you were going to be handicapped or not, so I put you in a handicapped room. And that's the last room, so you have to take it." Okay no problem with that. The problem is the room is all the way in the back underneath the stairs. I swear you could hear everything the people were doing above. They weren't being rowdy either, just normal movements. But from inside the room, you would swear a stampede was happenening. The room is ok, but black spots on the towels say something about their cleaning. I got back from my party dead tired at 1am, but kept getting woken up by the sounds from the ouside echoeing in the room every hour. At about 5am, I had it. I counted my losses and checked out. Just because it says Clarion in their title, doesn't mean that is anywhere near the standards of any other Clarion hotel I've stayed at. If Clarion knew what was going on in this place, they'd be ashamed to have this type of place.
Clean, safe, reasonably priced for it's location. Their breakfast room was charming and sunny, with real OJ, milk, bagels w/ cream cheese, fruit and pastries, etc. etc. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and jacuzzi. Beds were comfortable and clean. Located a short drive from the shoreline attractions.
We stayed only for one night but I chose this hotel for it's price and pool/jacuzzi. The room was spacey with TV/VCR, microwave and fridge (which came in handy since we had food to go). The bathtub was a jacuzzi so that was nice. Shower was roomy so I didn't feel like I was cramped in when taking a shower. Small closet, but had our own ironing board and iron. The pool and hottub was open till 10pm. It was nice that it was inside. Just a few minutes from the aquarium and warf...and near the mall and whole foods. Would definitely stay there again.
The room was very small with the bathroom sink outside of the bathroom, Very little space around sink to accommodate your personal items. The room had a strong odor of disinfectant. The overall look of the room was old. It needs to be revamped. We paid premium price for the room since it was during the Monterey Jazz Festival. I was very disappointed when I saw the room. The word hotel should be changed to motel.
This was our first time staying at a Clarion, and we were surprised! The room was very clean and close to the downtown area. We got the room in the back area, which was very quiet and away from the street noise. We were allowed to check in early too. The continental breakfast was also good, it included cereal, fruit, bagles and other breads, waffles, and milk/oj. The pool was great and was heated. Parking seemed full at the end of the night, but we never had a problem finding a spot. Overall, it is so worth it for the price in this area!
I stayed for one night at this hotel with my family and a couple of days later I realized that the hotel charged my bank account for 30 and said that we had taken pillows from the room. This is totally crazy seeing how I didn't take any pillows and the only proof they had was they said housekeeping said so. There must have been a room error or just a error on housekeepings part. Either way, I don't see why I have to pay for some REALLY uncomfortable pillows because they think I took them. They have not been cooroperative and I have since filed a formal complain against them with choice hotels. Beware! They can charge your account for ANYTHING they "claim" you took! I will never again stay at a Clarion hotel and hopefully you won't stay here either!
