This hotel was wonderful!! We booked last minute for New Year's Eve. Cannery Row was very quiet, not alot going on for New Year's. The is great place to come and have a quiet New Year's ; but still have someplace to go at midnight if you want to join a party! The Hotel had a great and restaruant; where we managed to spend our evening. We did make reservations at the Duck Club in advance, good thing. They were completely booked when we ate. The rooms are great...so big and the tub/ shower was huge. Everything was spotless and the turn down service gals left flowers on the bed. The valets were the best. They even offered us water for the ride home and directions. We are coming back next year.
The staff at the hotel were extremely courteous and kind. The room was quiet, marvelous and included a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable. We did not spring for the extra cost of a bay view room and had a cannery row view which was, as you would expect, underwhelming. The hotel lobby offers a beautiful place to sit and watch the sunset and (wonderful for this time of year) a fire in the fireplace. There were beautiful terraces which offered opportunities to sit and stare at the water. The location of the hotel is near cannery row and is about a 15 minute walk from the historic portion of monterey.
The hotel was perfect...Right on Cannery Row, but towards the end, which means it is quieter. Walking distance to all the fun stuff, aquarium, etc.I was able to purchase tickets for the aquarium at the hotel, saving me a trip. They hotel even delivered a portable crib for my 1 year old son.
Everything at this hotel was great. The room, the view of the ocean, the staff, the restaurant--both the food and service--everything. You could faintly hear the sea lions even when the rooms window were closed, but that didn't bother us. We'll definitely go there again.
We walled into the room and the bed was immediately upon us. Room was small and the air in the room was very musty. Turned on air conditioner to try to get some fresh air in along with opening the windows all night long. Should have spend 20 more and stayed at a nicer place.
Claims to be a quality hotel. Hot, noisey, no air-con, management rude, staff untrained. Worst hotel ever stayed in.
No Air-conditiong. Terrible Experience, Avoid.

Incredible views, great service
This is a lovely hotel. It is incredibly situated on (and I mean on) the Monterey Bay. (the hotel facade actually hangs over the breaking waves). The service is terrific as you'd expect from a 4 - 5 star property and the location along Cannery Row can't be beat. I've stayed here twice -- once in '02 for business and in August '09 for fun. The improvements the hotel has made in the last few years are dramatic. Would stay here again without any qualms.
