Room: The room was clean, but needs updating. The pillows are very thin and you will likely need to ask for extras. One of the beds in the room literally had springs that clanked every time you rolled over to that side.Amenities: There are few amenities. There is a hot tub room for which you need to go to the office to get a key. There is no pool. The "breakfast room" is at the front desk which is a room approximately 10' x 10' so you cannot sit down. Though they advertise internet access, the wi-fi is intermittent if present at all. There is free parking which is somewhat of a plus in Monterey.Service: When we asked about the wi-fi signal, the front desk person was quite rude and told my wife that he was not responsible for fixing people's computers. A different person acknowledged that the signal was spotty, but could not offer a solution. The housekeeping staff was very polite and friendly.Summary: We checked out a few hotels near Cannery Row en-route to the Aquarium and found some that were a bit more expensive, but much nicer. Though adequate and reasonably priced, the noisy bed, rude person at the front desk and lack of help for the wi-fi problem significantly reduced the quality of our stay. Search around, there are better alternatives.

This room was a great value. The room was large and spacious, spotless, and the bed was relativly comfortable. We were close enough to all kinds of activities, yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet.

 by  anonymous  on  2007-01-02

The room was nice. The king size bed was good, firm and not run down. I was expecting gas fire place set into the wall. It was one you get at k-mart and you plug it in to the wall. We thought that was the only source of heat until we saw the thermostat on the wall. Decor needs updated, thick vertical stripes; touch up is needed. Community spa was broken. They serve waffles in the morning; make it yourself kind with pre made batter. I recommend not eating it; go for the bagel and banana. Lets just say RUBBER.

Not sure how AAA does their ratings, however the Munras Lodge was listed as a 3 star. It was very clean, room very simplistic. Great for business travel. Surely a NO FRILLS hotel/motel. Hot tub/sauna under repair. Great location if not bothered by walking or driving.

 by  anonymous  on  2006-12-02

I had reserved a king size bed w/firelpace, but when we got there we were given 2 queen size beds w/fireplace. We were told they did not have the room I had reserved, which was ok, until we realized the fireplace did not work properly. The maintenance man did look at it, but even then, it only worked sporadically. The room was big and roomy, but the main reason I decided to stay here was for the fireplace. I will not stay here again. There were lots of other nicer hotels on the same street to chose from.

 by  anonymous  on  2006-12-02

We liked the fireplace in the corner and a large room. But the night was cold due to the broken heater and unsatisfactory breakfast.
