Bad News
The service was horrible. the people at the front desk were just plain rude.I had my Plane cancelled and went to the front desk and they said "...
My husband & I stayed here last month. I almost changed our reservation, based on quite a few negative reviews we read here. I am SO glad I kept our reservation... the hotel was fabulous. Our room was very large (the bathroom had a separate tub and shower stall bigger than any hotel bathroom we've ever had). The location is perfect. The staff were wonderful - sent us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary (and the concierge staff helped a friend of mine order and deliver a beautiful gift to our room). The flat screen TV and other audio equipment was great. They brought us an extra frig (no chrg) for all our own bottled water and snacks. We like having an "in room safe". Our room was ready (& we were early) We had a room on the 18th floor overlooking the bay. Just a short walk to the cable cars, as well as the buses. We were absolutely thrilled and can't wait to go back!!
I was about to book with another hotel that I had stayed at previously when I came across Hotel Nikko. It's only a few blocks from all mass transit?cablecars, bus, BART. We took BART from the airport and it put us two blocks from our hotel. It's the cheapest and the fastest way to get there by far. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The interior design was beautiful Asian modern. It was sophisticated without being stuffy. Very hip. In the room the room there was a nice flatscreen tv and soft comfortable pillow top beds with beautiful, simple, white down comforters. The climate control in the room was easy to adjust to personal liking too. Something that has proved frustrating in other hotel experiences. It also has an Enterprise car rental on the first floor in case you want to spend a day to the north in Marin County or the Wine Country. You can return the car without having to drop it off at the airport at departure or worry about parking, which can be a challenge in San Francisco. There's also a Starbucks downstairs for a quick caffeine rejuvenation. A year ago, I had stayed in a hotel near Hotel Nikko, but it wasn't nearly as nice and did not have the service or the amenities. I've stayed in hotels in S.F. that were twice the price like the Pan Pacific, and Hotel Nikko is a solid contender. I would definitely stay at the Nikko again and would certainly recommend it to my family and friends.
dont stay here just go home
The Good:- Nice, clean rooms- Bathroom has separate shower and bath tub- Wide flat-screen TV- Close to Union Square; good for shoppingThe Bad:- Rooms were a little small but to be expected since this is SF- Location is a little too close to Tenderloin, not a good neighorhood- Didn't use Internal or the gym/pool as both requires extra charges; not happy with the nickel and diming your customers for little stuff like thatOther comments:- Received a good deal off for this weekend which is rare; if staying at regular rate, then it would not be worth it- Main reason for staying at hotel was to go for Sunday Jazz brunch at Anzu which they've discontinued just a week earlier - just my luck. Didn't find out until I arrived. Still we went for their Sunday brunch which at 35 was good but not great value. Food selection was decent but service was excellent. In any case, much better than Sunday brunch at over-rated Ahwahnee in Yosemite Park, CA.- Parking can be expensive downtown SF - beware.
This inn is in a great location yet the rooms are very dated. Our room was tiny with torn dirty carpeting and a cracked sink that didnot drain properly. The tub was also ancient and stained. We stayed here because of travel guide reviews. It definately is in need of some TLC. The staff was okay and the morning breakfast was hardboiled eggs and packaged frozen muffins but this is an inexpensive inn. You get a bargain rate and recieve a stay in a less than stellar room but the price is a deal. If you stay here expect a fabulous location and get what you pay for.
My friends and I stayed there for 3 days during thanksgiving. The hotel was very good. There were big comfortable beds and a plasma TV in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us keep our luggages after we've checked out. The store room looked quite secure. Great location. We've had a discount of 50 for booking the room with Mastercard, so the price is really good for the hotel. Wish they could provide free wireless service though.
