We stayed three nights, the room was clean and quiet. The bed was quite comfortable. The morning breakfast was very nice, served in the lounge at the end of the hall. In the evening, there was wine, cheese and crackers, also at the lounge. The only drawback was that there was no view. We looked out at the rooftop units of the building next door. The hotel is located at the heart of Union Square, close to shopping and public transportation. A five minute walk to Union Square and you can get a Muni-Pass to take the cable car to Fishermans Wharf and Chinatown. Restaurants and delicatessens and diners are all close. The staff will make you reservations if you like. The staff was friendly and helpful and well informed. Check in and Check out were a breeze. Overall we had a great time and would stay again.
We were a little weary of the Inn at Union Square because it was an unknown entity but couldn't beat the price to decided to try it for one night and stayed at the St. Francis the other night. I much prefered the Inn at Union Square and it was cheaper. Despite being in a very bustling part of town, it was a very quiet retreat. The room was great, bed very comfortable and a good shower (I judge all hotels on the shower). The wine & cheese hour and the fantastic continental breakfast were a delightful addition to an already great hotel. Definitely pick this over the St. Francis if you want a little more charm.
My husband and I had just 36 hours to explore San Francisco and discoverd this quaint little Inn adjacent to Union Square, near downtown. After reading numerous positive reviews, we decided to book our 2-night stay here and were VERY pleasantly surprised. The Inn at Union Square was a quiet, safe and comfortable retreat after spending hours sightseeing. The Inn's small, dark green building is tucked in amongst mega hotels and skyscrapers, but once we walked through the front doors, we felt as though the hustle and bustle of SF had been left behind. The rooms were small, but lavishly decorated and contained everything we needed for our stay. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable and were a welcome to our tired feet and aching muscles! The breakfast room on each floor was a nice added bonus. We started our day there with great coffee and a pastry, then headed out to explore. The location of the Inn is wonderful --- 3 blocks from the BART Powell St. station --- 1/2 block from the cable car route --- 2 blocks from the car rental companies --- walking distance to the Embarcadero and the Ferry Building --- 1/2 block from Union Square. The staff was friendly, professional and very helpful. We were looking for a nice place to eat and the concierge gave us a list of his personal favorites. Most restaurants were within walking distance and a couple were within 1 block of the Inn. If you're looking for a modern, fast-paced, glitzy hotel...the Inn would not be your "cup of tea". However, if you're seeking a quiet, comfortable and safe place to stay (that is very reasonable priced) then I think that you'd enjoy the Inn at Union Square. I know that we did!
My husband and I had the junior queen suite which was ideal for a two-night stay, and we would request same again. Smallish, yet comfortable bathroom, clean, and bedroom nicely furnished. Great location one half block away from Union Square. Absolutely we will stay here again. Price was right, as well!
THIS IS A LOVELY 30 ROOM BOUTIQUE HOTEL LOCATED STEPS AWAY FROM POWELL STREET. THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL, AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. THE ROOM WAS SMALL, BUT VERY CLEAN AND WELL-APPOINTED. THE BED WAS THE MOST COMFORTABLE HOTEL BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. THE ROOM ALSO HAD A SITTING AREA, A DESK, AND A 32 IN FLAT SCEEN TV. THE BATHROOM WAS A DECENT SIZE WITH AVEEDA BATH PRODUCTS. SERVICES INCLUDED A CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST, AN EVENING WINE/CHEESE GET-TOGETHER, AND NIGHTLY TURN-DOWN SERVICE. THE ONLY THING MISSING FROM SOME OF THE ROOMS IS A VIEW SINCE THE WINDOWS FACE THE BUILDING NEXT STORE. LOCATED IN THE HEART OF UNION SQUARE IT'S EXCELLENT FOR SHOPING, DINING, AND TRANSPORTATION. I WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN.
The Inn at Union Square is everything you look for in a hotel. The staff very helpful and friendly, the room could not be any cleaner or nicer, all the hotel services were unbelievable for the price! Great location right in Union Square. This is certainly a diamond in the ruff!
