As a National Historical Landmark and one of the most distinctive resort hotels in North America, The Ahwahnee is well known for its great granite facade, striking beamed ceilings, massive stone hearths, richly colored Native American artwork, and finely appointed rooms. Featuring 123 rooms, comprised of 99 hotel rooms, parlors and suites and 24 cottages, The Ahwahnee offers a perfect balance of history, hospitality and elegance. It's no wonder that for generations this grand hotel has been the destination of queens and presidents alike.

Having read the comment above, I'm not sure that we stayed in the same hotel. We have travelled to and stayed in several of the historic hotels our great National Parks. Yes there is no disco / dancing or night club or for that matter martini bar. BUT there is the spectacular Yosemite Valley and surrounding High Sierra. If you love our National Parks stay here if you prefer Las Vegas style night life you will be dissapointed!
It was an anniversary present given by our daughter. they wanted to charge us for all but the deposit. The woman at the desk wanted to explain how the hotel worked as if we were 4 years old. our room was lovely but we could hear the children and the adults clearly on both sides. It's a grand old hotel but lacks life for adults. the setting is gorgeous. The food ordinary
We love the Ahwahnee and particularly fond of their Dining Room.Their Buffet Breakfast (17.50) is incredible, and included the smoked fish platter that is no longer on the breakfast menu. The price includes choice of juice & coffee, all you can drink. Their coffee is quite good, its from ""Seattle's Best"".Even if you don't stay there, make at least one trip to the Ahwahnee dining room.....its worth every penny!
