I would definitely say here again. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to see the monuments and museums. (And of course, the White House) The rooms are very nice & clean and the staff is very courteous.
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Good size rooms, clean, helpfull staff. We were going to be late for a wedding because we got lost and the staff really helped us get their on time. The wedding was in another super rated hotel which I thought should take a few lessons from the Crowne Plaza. Very good value!!!
This hotel offers a number of perks and it's affordable. There is a continental breakfast on the 12th floor - and 'happy hour' on weeknights - but ask about it when you check in. I found the hours a bit confusing. One day I went to the continental breakfast around 10:30AM and there were only bottles of water and apples. Hotel service was fine. This made a lightbulb change and getting an extra blanket a bit of a charades process. The last day of our stay, housekeeping took the comforter off the bed (and did not clean the room or give us new towels). While fresh towels were not a big deal, we really did need a blanket. It took three requests throughout the course of the day/evening to get one. The one highlight of the hotel is the restaurant. The food is OUTSTANDING, but be warned the service inside the restaurant is TERRIBLE. SLOW and understaffed (and it seems that the staff that are there don't really care), BUT the food makes up for it. After one terribly served, outstanding meal, we actually went back a second night. It was a Saturday night and the service was even worse. We sat for over 10 minutes before the waiter even came over to get a drink order, we didn't take any chances and ordered everything then. He never came back again until he gave us the check. No water refills, no checking on us. Once again, the food was incredible and worth the terrible service. Just think of what the hotel restaurant would be with OKAY service! A gem! Still, we would stay there again.
One night stay, small, nice and clean room. My one criticism is this room was setup for a man. If you are very girly it can be unconfortable for a stay longer than overnight. Overall nice hotel and good value.
The hotel is situated on a busy corner which made is easy to find and return to on foot or by car. It is only 2 blocks from the metro, so getting around Washington is easy, safe and inexpensive. We did take a cab to Viet Nam Memorial for 9. A walk to and from the White House was "doable".Our room was changed from a double to a Queen when we checked in. We had no objection, but the room faced the street and it was noisy on Friday night...very.We only ate at the hotel on Easter Sunday because there were no other choices. During the week you can find many little coffee shops for breakfast. Dinner across the street was excellent, as was Grillfish in Foggy Bottom. The location of the hotel, condition and comfort made it a good choice for us. The general staff was very friendly. We were UNimpressed with bar staff! Head barman was a little rude. Parking fee was 30 a day and unavoidable but we could access our car quickly whenever we wanted . Anyway, all hotels in DC charge a fee. We strongly recommend a drive through Georgetown, DC monuments at night, and "Embassy Row" on Mass Ave. We would recommend this hotel.
Great Hotel, clean friendly and helpful staff. Subway located across the street. Blocks from the White House. One of the nicest Hotels I have stayed at at any price.
