Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!!
We wanted to spend a night on the beach for the weekend. Unfortunatelly it turned out to be a nightmare... We arrived at the Islander Resort at...
The hotel was very dated. It seemed the hotel could use a lot of work. The hotel was not very clean either. My mohter-in-laws room was dirty when she checked in. Unbelievably there were actually muddy footprints on the tile leading into the bathroom. The carpet was not secured to the floor properly. Which could cause a person to trip and fall. My daughter stepped on a rusty nail protruding from the carpet runner in the doorway leading out to the balcony. The water during a shower would fluctuate with no notice from scalding hot to freezing cold. There was a fire on the 1st floor during our stay. We were not awakened by the hotel alarm, instead we received a call from my mother-in-law on the 9th floor. She called our cell phone from her cell phone.
we arrived at 2:45 pm and waited in line for 30 minutes in the hot lobby while customers streamed in behind us. two elevators working the first day, down to one the next. we were on the 10th floor so we couldn't take the stairway. the hallways were always hot, pool was nice, bubbles in the hot tub? breakfast was ok. beach access was great. the beach was nice. Area was very nice but for what we paid for one night, we won't be staying at the islander anymore.
The hotel is a little run down in some areas, but overall was clean and a good value for the money. I just needed a decent place to stay at the beach with two "tween" girls and this was perfect. Great beach location, not too much traffic. Pool area was nice and tiki bar was reasonably priced. Free continental breakfast was decent & handy with kids. Only bad experience was being charged "additional fees" when I checked in for PARKING (5 a day) and safe rental. This is not a usual custom at other small beachside hotels in Daytona (I go there often) and added to the "Low Price" I was anticipating for the room. Will know to figure this in my budget next time when comparing rates. I would stay there again.
The outdoor pool was heated, Awesome hot tub. (Biggest one I've seen. ) Effeciency included dishes and pots, full fridge with freezer, countertop stove, toaster and microwave. The view was spectacular. South east corner allowed for full sun most of the day. Close to shopping and great night life. We loved the resturant on the pier called Crabby's. It was a nice walk on the beach to get there. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definately go again.
I don't know what to say. I spent a few days here and the room was very low maintenance. I mean the sink was clogged, the tub is very dirty with mildew, carpet filthy, roaches(in the 5 floor that's pretty bad),lock not closing properly, hallways floor stained and smelly, rooms also smell dirty, the door to the bathroom is so tight that you need to get in the tub to close it.the AC is very dirty,we didn't go in the pool because we don't know if they do any maintenance on it. The view was the only thing worth in this place. Breakfast was good but now that we think about they might have roaches in the kitchen also. I'm a diabetic and when I made the reservation it says it did have a refrigerator in the rooms then when we asked for one for my needs of insulin they told me they don't have them available. I have never been in a hotel that charges to park. We had to pay 5.00 a day to park in the property and we live in Miami.
This hotel is in a pirme location but it is obvious no attention has been paid to cleanliness or appearance. The rooms have mutiple colors of paint on the wall, holes, wallpaper deteriotiating, gross carpet, etc. The bathroom obviosuly needs repair and updating issues covered up with wallpaper which most likely means mold behind it. The location though is epctacular, prisitine views, great beach access and a excellent pool. But the reality is it is just a bed and nothing more in your room. Keep the lights off and you wont see as much disrepair.
