Bad choice
This hotel has a very bad odor as soon as you walk through the lobby door. The rooms were dirty and smelly - smelled smokey and musty. The carp...
To start the hotel is very old and unattractive. The lobby area has been nicely redone, but the rooms are pathtetic. The first room I was given had very stained carpet and a terrible odor (mold) so I was switched to another. The second room was a little more bearable, but the carpets were still badly stained. The televison remote did not work and I never recieved a new one. Both the tub and sink had considerable rust stains. The main window over looking the river was filthy. The room decor was non existent, as if they had simply thrown a bed and a few pieces of broken furniture into the room. The room door seemd as if it was about to fall off of the hinges. The door would actually open up about an inch or so while still locked. And there was no hot water the next morning when I showered. I was terribly disappointed with my stay here and would not stay again. Definitely not worth the money. I've stayed in one star joints that have this place beat!
Staff we excellent with recommendations and directions. Bar and lobby area is very entertaining. Water Taxi to the football game and Landing is perfect. Must stay if going to the football game...
Arrived and was charged 10 extra to self-park. Valet was 14. Not disclosed in advance. When questioned, they said they don't recommend third party listing services like the travel agency and don't have to mention these extra charges. Loud parties ongoing till late in the evening.
From the moment I walked into the hotel I thought I was in a stadium. Metal beams every where, ventalation systems exposed, just a nightmare and on top of that it smelled like a gym locker. After checking in and making my way to my room, I was horrified by the overall appearance of the hotel. Cracked and chipped paint, doors that look like they were about to fall of the hinges and once again a foul smell. The hallway reminded me of an old college dorm or a typical, lw budget sping break hotel. Finally the room. The bathroom is WAY TO SMALL. Once you open the bathroom door your practically almost standing in the tub and the rooms needed to be aired out. Several other guests felt the same and I would suggest looking for another hotel unless you're just sold on this one. In my opinion, it's too much for what you get. Stay somewhere else, I know I will the next time I'm in Jacksonville.
Hotel looks like it was decorated in the 80's. Stucco on the wall was cracking all over the bedroom. Very bad service when I went to check in. Could not find a luggage cart nor could I find a bell boy to help me get my luggage. All they seemed concerned about was parking my car for 12 a night. Do not mind paying for having my car park but you should at least help me get out of my car and get my luggage out. All I heard was that my boss requires me to charge you 12 and that we have no carts. It was a weekend when downtown Jacksonville was pretty slow. I really do not understand the lack of service. Also when I asked the front desk about restaurant in the area they had no recommendations. I found this very surprising for a hotel that advertizes as full service.
As with any brand name, you come to expect a certain standard of quality from the brand. Unfortunately the Wyndham does not live up to its brand standard. I read in other reviews that it was formerly a Radisson hotel, but it doesn't seem that they have been able to convert the hotel to something much nicer than it was before. The rooms are decent, but the bathrooms are typical motel style bathrooms and not as nice as you would expect for the price you're paying. Also, the air conditioning unit is on the floor at the base of the window, just like you would expect in a roadside motel, not a premium brand hotel. One plus is the location. It's located close to attractions downtown such as the Landing and the football stadium. You can even take a water taxi that is available just outside the hotel and ride across the river. Overall the hotel is still decent, just expect a Radisson quality experience, and be prepared to pay a Wyndham brand premium.
