THIS WAS MY 1ST TIME EXPERIENCING MIAMI WITH MY HUSBAND. THIS HOTEL WAS VERY CLEAN, THE STAFF WAS NICE AND POLITE. THEY JUST NEED TO UPDATE THERE MENU, CAN MORE OF A VARIETY OF BREAKFAST FOOD TO CHOOSE FROM. SOME PEOPLE LIKETO ENJOY FISH FOR BREAKFAST. AND A STRONG SUGESTION, THEY SHOULD NICE MIX PORK WITH BEEF IN THE SAME CONTAINERS.
My hubby and I went for a romantic getaway and had a wonderful time. The pictures provided of the hotel, inside and out, are very accurate so nothing was a surprise. The staff was very friendly and nice as well. There was 1 or 2 occasions that we had to ask for more towels, but they responded very quickly and had them to us within minutes. The bed seemed somewhat hard, but we slept very well on it, nevertheless. We booked a room with a city view, but we ended up getting a room with a partial ocean view which was simply beautiful. The beach was all that we imagined and much more! Overall, we had a great stay at the hotel and would definitely stay again. We went to the South Beach area, but it wasn't our cup of tea. It seemed to be more for single partygoers so we didn't seem to fit in. It was still a good experience, but we just felt that SB was a lot of hype. I would definitely recommend visiting the Coconut Grove Area. If you travel South on US-1, it is in an area to the East of it. There are shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and even an Improv Comedy Club. We went one night and had dinner, saw a comedy show, and just enjoyed the wonderful ambiance of the area. The nightlife there seemed to appeal to a more mature crowd, much different than South Beach, so we enjoyed it more. Aventura (north of hotel) is also a very nice area with a huge shopping mall. They also have a wonderful restaurant called The Original Pancake House. The food was very good (breakfast tasted homemade) and the staff was very friendly and attentive.
It was our first time visiting Miami. The hotel was nice, the staff was friendly. Be adviced that the hotel charges 10 per day for towels and chairs for the beach, 10-15 to park your car and if you do not rent your car as you get off the airplane you will need to pay 60 to get to this hotel via shuttle bus. All these extra fees are not included in your package price, needless to say it was a pricey vacation. We were surprised how most of the Miami people we encountered were rude. Take lots of dollar bills as you will need to tip anyone who helps you.
Due to the location, price and photos we picked this hotel. Although the lobby and pool are great, the hotel room itself was terrible. We were located by the service elevator, housekeeping closet, vending machine and employee exit door (all directly attached to our room). It was not an ideal room. We were also told that the hotel was booked so we could not be moved. The rooms are in a desperate need of an update!!! We also tried to order room service for lunch (1:00pm) and were told they were closed. This should not be rated a 4 star hotel. It was not the worst hotel, but less than ideal.
We had ordered and payed our room 3 months ahead, still when we came there they didn't have a room available and sent as to the other hotel. That was at 1 a.m. so I had to drive another 15-20 minutes with two tired kids in my car. Next morning they did have a room. Next day I was surprised that they room keeping stuff didn't show up not only to make our beds but even to take out our garbage. So I had to complain to the desk. They started to clean our room only after third complain. They call a really tiny room a one-bedroom suite, so don't be fooled with the name. So all in all this is a really terrible hotel still in a really beautiful place. The best part is the beach and pool area. They also have a couple of really good social activities during a day.
Pleasantly surprised upon arriving, hotel was nicer than pictures. We were given a room with an ocean view after booking a "city view". Room was small but the space was used very efficiently and it seemed much larger. It was nice to have the mini-fridge, microwave and two TV's. Beach was great and better than advertised. Hotel offers free towels and chairs on the beach. Would recommend getting to beach early to secure a "hut" for a very nominal charge. Well worth it if you plan on spending the entire day at the beach. We went for exactly that, and were not disappointed. The restaurant Pelican's on the Pier is fabulous. Try the burgers they are phenomenal. It looks like a throw back from the 70's and provides great views. We didn't go to the pool at all, after all, there are pools everywhere and only a handful of oceans. The kids seemed to enjoy the pool and there were lots of them. There were several small independent restaurants to the north about 2-3 block which offer a great variety of local flavor. Much better than your average chain restaurant. Also, there is a CVS nearby to buy groceries and beach stuff. The hotel is great overall and we would stay there again for sure.
Highly recommended family hotel.
