This hotel is a little bit away from the bustling Ybor area. Well, I use 'bustling' loosely as it's fairly dead during the week, very unlike the SF Bay...

Good stay, but not without issues
The Hampton Inn Tampa/Ybor City/Downtown was an average stay in a location that has some good points and some bad points. First, while the loca...
We stayed 2 nights in the Hampton Inn prior to embarking on a Carnival Cruise of the Western Caribbean. The Inn is located on the edge of a quaint Old Town setting in Ybor City (pronounced Ebor) and close to the docking pier for Carnival Cruise Ships. There was free shuttle service to the pier. Many good restaurants in the area as well as an exceptional aquarium, and the Channel Side Tourist area. The beds in the Inn are excellent, and the free buffet breakfast quite adequate. All in all an enjoyable stay.
This hotel had excellent service, including taking you to and from cruise ships. This was a very clean place and the free breakfast bar was pretty good.
We stayed 1 night before our cruise. Werent too sure about the area in general, but we ventured out at night, and found people to be very friendly, just stay on the beaten path.(It was dark w/construction going on when we went). The bed was amazing!!! If ever in the area again, I would stay at this hotel.
We stayed here before our cruise left on Saturday. There is a shuttle that will take you to the Pier so it was very convenient.
I stayed here to be near an event in Ybor City. The new beds in Hampton Inns are fabulous. The staff on the other hand could have used a lesson or two. Paid parking, but be sure and ask for the hang tag. I was almost towed due to the ineptitude of the front desk staff. Otherwise, decent place to stay.
