Although this hotel is located close to the airport and the beaches, it is way beat up. The staff is helpful when asked about eating establishments and immediately sent housekeeping up with menus. The hotel is in need of a make over, as everything looks beat up, wore out, and very very used. I was offered a bay view for ten dollars extra which I declined as the musty smell was enough for me. I was worried about leaving my rental car in the parking lot since the lighting was dim and the parking lot itself needs repaving. Not at all what I expected for the star ratings. Maybe when it first opened up, but not now. Stay across the street at doubletree for the same price and much better facilities.
We checked into the room and found a large wet puddle on the rug. When maintenace came, they said someone had thrown up there and it was attempted to be cleaned up. They moved us to another room. After complaining at the front desk, they gave us a 30 credit for dinner at the restaurant, but at dinner the staff said they couldn't accept it and we had to go back again to the front desk and work it out. The next morning, only 2 of us could take showers because the tub was clogged up. Overall the hotel was not maintained well, public areas were dirty and beat up looking. The view was nice, but this was not the nice hotel we expected for a 3 1/2 star rating.
The picture in the description is NOT how the hotel looks. You think from the picture you can walk right on the beach. WRONG!!!! It is a quarter mile to a public beach!
Hotel is a little dated but very clean and some improvements have already begun. Location right on the bay is great with beautiful views and easy access to Tampa and Clearwater. Beds are extremely comfortable and there is a restaurant and bar on site is a nice place to eat or hang out. Would stay here again without hesitation.
