What a wonderful weekend! We spent our morning sipping coffee on the balcony overlooking the water. The room was beautiful. We had a wonderful dinner on property! Every part of our stay was divine. We can't wait to return!

Had our reception here several years ago, numerous business meetings etc. Always LOVED the place. The property itself is elegant and beautiful. The current staff seems to have trained at a government ageny (perhaps Motor Vehicles or Tax Collector), or Howard Johnson's. If you are payng with your own money and expect 4 star service you will be disappointed. Fred's has the best service in Florida, unfortunately that is coupled with the very worst food you may ever experience. (fortunately the portions are miniscule) The outdoor pool closes at about 3:30 every day so the staff can gather elsewhere to while away their last few hours on duty. They will tell you about a mysterious siren you can never hear, and lightning that never comes. I live 5 miles from the hotel and am sure that lightning isn't in the area EVERY DAY AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME!

Hotel was beautiful in picture, however very ghetto in real life. Parking gate broken, I had to get out and lift it so it didn't scratch the top of my car. Lightbulbs in lamps did not work. Minibar was stolen, however they gave us a key to it. When frontdesk was called, they stated, "some rooms have them and some don't". Why did we get "refreshment" key? * bottle of strange looking water in bathrooms that you will be charged if opening. Nice area/view, bed was great. Room was quiet because no one was in the building.

This hotel is located right in the middle of town. Tampa Bay is across the street. Service is superior and has been with our many stays. Many restaurants, night clubs, museums in the immediate area. A little high-priced but worth it. "

Upon arrival, I am place in a room with WET carpet. Called the front dest - they woud check on it. TWO HOURS later I'm being moved to another room., just on top ot the portico out front - lights a blazing inside my windows ALL NIGHT LONG - Felt like mid day. Complained to the manager and lights were turned off at 4am. Next day, have an assistant staying in the adjoining room next door. She arrived in my room, and decided to go have lunch - we can unpack her stuff later - and left. Going out of the room, I hear someone with a a loud vaccuum in her room next door - decided to take a peak. They were steaming the carpets! I told them to stop (they were just getting started) NOT to clean the carpet as a guest would be there this evening . . . they nodded ok and away we went. Come back 2.5 hours later - we open the door between our rooms and guess what? her carpet is soaking wet. Downstairs I go looking for a manager - Between the flood lights, and the wet carpet Ive had enough. After about 1.5 hours in the lobby I got to the point about my stay. I was in town for a reunion - lots of big wigs (friends)attentending - even the govenor! But what I do for a living shocked him. . .I'm a freelance writer for a travel magazine about hotels, restuarants in certain cities people might want to visit. Boy has the hotel gotten NOT ONE star from me so far. He begins to suck up now and moved my assistants and my stuff to a 2 bedroom suite - free champange, food, etc. .. . too late
