Stayed for three nights over Memorial Day weekend in a Bermuda Suite. Hotel and room was clean but dated. Photos are somewhat deceiving in that the Hotel appears newer than its true age. However, to Alden's benefit most hotels in the area are dated. Beach is the best feature when staying at Alden. If you must stay at a hotel on the beach and can ignore the old dacor, Alden Beach Resort would be an ok stay. But, also plan on adding an additional 20 per night to the hotel rate for add-on taxes and fees. Given the additional add-on cost and age factor, I wouldn't rate Alden as a great value for the money. The problem is that all hotels in the area are quite expensive in season. I just would perfer a hotel that's not as dated.
We will be back to Alden! The staff was the best...the room was great. All the amenities of a big resort with that small hotel feel....and steps from the beach!
The staff at this hotel is excellent. We were allowed to get our room early, which helped. The room was clean. The grounds were beautiful. Our balcony had an amazing view of the gulf and several chairs and a table. They had two pools, a hot tub, playground, shuffleboard, volleyball area, a cabana bar and a grill out deck. Our room was small, a lanai suite with an extremey tiny kitchen. But it was nice for small meals. The sitting area was also small and the furniture was old and stained. But they are currently updating the rooms. So many rooms probably have better furniture. The beds were fine. The manager was always visibile and always helpful. The staff gave us a list of restaurants for Thanksgiving and they one they suggested turned out to be fantastic. They printed out our boarding passes for us for our return flight. One complaint I do have is that they do allow smoking and the rooms on the first floor had smoking and the smoke drifted right up to our room and made it hard to sit out on the balcony at times to enjoy the view. I think smokers should be on the higher levels since smoke rises. This hotel has great potential due to the wonderful staff. I would suggest you get a cayman suite since they are the larger gufl front suites. Our view was framed by palm trees and we were near the bar, but the bar was not loud at all. There are many restaurants within walking distance. The photos you see are outdated on the website. The hotel is now yellow. IT looks nice. You won't go wrong with the Alden.
Room smelled so bad that we had to by candles and lysol to get the smell out. They put us next to the elevator and it was noisy all night long till 5 a.m. My husband and I didn't get any sleep at all. I will never book with a place I can't cancel with. I'll call the hotel directly, so I can cancel if the room smells or the noice is loud all night. That was a waste of money.Thank You
We stayed the week of the 4th of July, it was very busy, but there was plenty of room to get away from the crowd. We arrived very early and had to come back later to get our room, but they did get us in at around 1 not 4 as posted and was upgraded to a beachfront. Location could not have been better, it was ground floor with the pool out the front door, the ocean out the patio (large patio w/chairs and enough room to actually make use of) the kids play area was only a few yards to the right with the cabana bar. We where by the elevators and laundry which seemed loud when we first arrived but they did not keep us up. Our kids range from teenagers to toddlers and everyone enjoyed the trip. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help me locate extra flyers left in the rooms with the newspaper and maintenance was fast arriving when I had a problem with the microwave. (hint: they are small and extended use causes them to shut down until they cool) This is not a fancy place but if you are looking for a clean room with a good location that is family friendly you found it. We watched dolphins play right off the shore and collected lots of shells. Tip: if you want to use the gas grills provided, plan early they fill up fast. on busy times they could use more.
We had a great time at Alden Beach Resort. We got a free upgrade and the room was just perfect for us. The beach is close. The pools were kept up. Will be going back
