OVER RATED - Beware
Marco Island is such a lovely place, but Eagle's Nest is not. Absolutely - the location is top notch! Can't say enough about the expansive, pri...
We stayed there March, 2008. Weather was gorgeous and great location for walking to restaurants. Tennis courts were a joke. Fitness area was being remodeled. Beach was beautiful! Lots of gorgeous shells. Staff was very courteous.
Due to strong winds the beach area was covered with living, dying sea shells-that were not touched for over a week. They lay rotting in the hot sun-the smell was beyond words. Mis-leading about internet access. I mean one could go to McDonalds have better internet access and privacy. I must say the staff was wonderful.
This is a very nice Hilton. I stayed in a Junior Suite with a "full Gulf view". Be advised that "full Gulf view" does NOT mean you will be looking directly out onto the Gulf. My "full Gulf view" was 70% tennis courts and the hotel, or at least the guts of it, next door (I stayed on the South side). They are renovating the hotel next door. Work begins promptly at 7:30am with jackhammers, air compressors, and trucks that go BEEP BEEP BEEP when they back up. So, unfortunately, falling asleep listening to the waves roll onto the beach with the balcony door open was met with Bob The Builder in the morning. Fortunately, the balcony door is VERY soundproof. The hotel itself is great. Room and bathroom were clean and well furnished. The staff was very friendly and always offered a "hello". The pool area was very clean and the pool temp was very comfortable although it can be a bit of a wind tunnel at times. The beach was very clean. Nice white sand and able to barefoot around. There is a "river" of crushed seashells just before you get to the Gulf waters...not a big deal, just wear flip-flops across it. The Gulf is sandy and relatively shell-free, but tread lightly to be safe. The noise from the construction was not as bad when on the beach.I would definately return to this hotel again. Although I felt it was a bit pricey, it IS Marco Island, it IS a Hilton, and it was December. The hotel next door looked like it would be under construction for a while longer, so plan accordingly.
Not sure if you have the option, but a trip in the fall, after the hurricane season and before the snowbirds, this was as relaxing as it gets. Traffic was light, restaurants not too full, in the 80s with little humidity, plenty of sun. I understand Novemeber is the best time to pick up shells after the hurricanes stir the gulf during the summer.Make sure you ask where other restaurants are that may not be on the main drag, it gets dark early in the fall, so might not know where to venture out too
Great hotel, great rooms, great beds, great pool, great beach, great staff and great service. Worth every penny if you're looking for a place to relax.
Location is perfect. Hotel is the best we have stayed in and that includes a lot of high dollar ones. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. Even the fresh orange juice was great. I can't say it any other way. SUPERB
