Water-sport choices abound on the island, including windsurfing, fishing, sailing, boat rentals, and canoeing. Our huge pool and tennis court on five lush, tropical acres overlook the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Loved Sunset Beach Resort
I booked The Sunset Beach Resort based on reviews from Tripadvisor.com. We had never been to Sanibel Island before, so we did not know what to ...
We booked this through online travel website since we were a 1000 miles away and not familiar with the island. Upon arrival, we were told since we booked through this site, the only rooms available were either a 12x12 closet with a bed or an underground room. We ended up having to go to another hotel and losing our money as both the hotel and online travel website refused to reimburse us or relocate us for the first night. Nothing about this hotel meets any reasonable standard.
Clean, fresh, nicely done. The beach was lovely, my husband fished while I read on the beach. My 18yo son was disappointed, nothing for him to do, but my husband and I are already planning our return trip. The grilles were new, clean easy to use. We watched the sunset from the beach - loved sitting on the deck overlookiing the pool and beach- the paper everyday was great. Go-you 'll like it.
My niece and I just returned from Sanibel Island and we had a great time!!! The staff was very friendly and helpful at Sunset Beach. They even helped to make sure that our return flight was on time and they printed off our boarding passes for us--that was one less thing that we had to worry about. The rooms were very clean and we had a great view of the pool. The pool area was great too!! I would highly recommend this as a place to vacation and we will definitely go back--wish we were headed back tomorrow!!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. Enough for teens to do. Beach is great! Only complaint is no bathroom close to pool. You have to go back to your room if you need a bathroom. The continental breakfast was plentiful. The bikes were fun, so was the shuffleboard. We would stay here again...we all had a great time. The sunsets from the upper level are fabulous!
WE WERE SO SURPRIZED TO SEE HOW NICE THE ROOMS WERE. THE FRONT DESK LADIES WERE DELIGHTFUL. THE BEACHES WERE PEACEFUL ALREADY PLANNING NEXT YEARS RETURN....
We found this to be a very friendly place with lovely accomdations for a Labor Day weekend getaway. Considering the high prices on Sanibel this was fairly low, plus they did not require a 3 night minimum for a holiday weekend which is a big deal on Sanibel. The room we had on the second floor appeared to have been newly remodeled, pretty trendy decor. No tacky tropical. Neither of us cared for the bed though and we didn't sleep well in it. The staff could not have been nicer and were all very friendly. Not having been to Sanibel since the last hurricane I was surprised at how much beach erosion had taken place and it was so sad to see all of the beautiful pine trees that once lined the main road through the island now all gone. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided by the hotel on the beach. The showers by the pool were not functioning and that was disappointing since it would have been nice to be able to rinse off the sand before entering the pool. Loved the Rusk products in the bathrooms. Great smelling guarana & ginger tolietries. The continential breakfast was awesome - croissants, donuts, danish and muffins if I recall correctly. Juice and coffee available too. Wireless internet was a great surprise since we didn't see it mentioned in the website description. We'd stay there again for sure.
