We paid a lot, too much to stay gulf front, we were on the lower level. We could clearly hear our upstairs neighbors urinate, it sounded as though they were in our room. The sound travels through the floors. The "suites" are pretty small and there are much better values. The staff offered to move us upstairs when a room came available, however, that was not an option for my wife. The bedroom was so small the only comfortable way I could get into the king size bed was to crawl over my wife. The bottom of the bed was about 12" from the wall. The bathroom door would not open all the way without hitting the toilet. There was a beautiful beach on the gulf and a shortage of chairs etc. I honestly feel they owe me a good part of my money back. I am not that difficult to please but not hearing your neighbors bathroom visits clearly isn't too much to ask when you pay the asking price for this place. I was offered a 100.00 dinner gift cert. to their neighboring properties rest., Ellingtons for dinner. It was a nice place. It was a nice gesture but this place is not worth the money. We liked Sanibel but feel you could get a great value in a cottage on the South Side of Fort Meyers Beach and visit Sanibel as often as you like.

Just returned from 4 nights at Song of the Sea. Stayed in a beachfront suite - 2nd floor. Small but clean and cozy. Great views!! Adult oriented. Sanibel Inn next door, is a "sister" resort so you can also use their facilities which include pool bar and grill (more kid oriented also). Song's suite included small kitchen - great for keeping drinks and snacks. Not a large resort - so if you are looking for a lot of entertainment and activities this is not your place. If you are looking for peace and serenity, especially at this time of the year, (fall - quiet time) this is your place. Beach chairs and umbrellas supplied. Continental breakfast typical - muffins, cereals, yogurt, waffle maker, bagels, breads and fruits. Ellington's Jazz Restaurant next door is good, but EXPENSIVE!!! Be prepared. Try Lighthouse Cafe which is near by. Great breakfasts!!

This year will mark my 3rd trip to Sanibel (and my spouse's 4th) - each at Song. The hotel isn't the typical American hotel. It is a very charming, and very quiet, resort that is perfect for my family's vacation (we have 2 children under 8). Sure, other places have gyms, average restaurants, and large suites, but that's not why we go to Sanibel. Song offers peace and quiet, in a beautiful setting - perfect! My family and I have no plans to change where we stay. The major attractions for us: smoke-free; great beach; privacy; quiet; comfort; clean.Ellington's is next door, and we had a wonderful meal with terrific music. The price was not out of line with my expectations of any restaurant in its category.

Lovely property, on the beach, nice breakfast, great shelling

Very intimate and quiet, but more like an efficiency than a charming Inn. Rooms are very average. Attempt to update an old hotel is obvious. Very small bathroom. For * a night, expect more than a small pool and beach access. Comp breakfast is waffles and cereal.
