The location was terrific, the staff super friendly and the afternoon "tea" was delicious! We would only change two things. The fitness room and better televisions with pay-per-view movies. We will definitely stay here again.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay at the Mulberry Inn. The location is great and the Inn is beautiful. Tea time is a treat with great piano entertainment. Breakfast is expensive but good. Parking is expensive also but we signed up for PriorityClub and got free parking. Even though food and parking is expensive, it's comparable to any other hotel in the area. The pool and hot tub are outdoors and I enjoyed them. The only complaints I have are that the rooms are musty smelling so bring along some air freshner and it'll be fine. Also, the fire alarm went off at 4:00 a.m. and we all had to evacuate. I have no problem with that because those things happen, however, the entire time we were outside & while the firemen were there we never saw a hotel employee to tell us what was going on or to tell us it's safe to return to our rooms. I realize it was 4:00 a.m. but surely there was someone that was in charge. One more thing...when I left my room in the mornings, I noticed our room was the only one they didn't give a complimentary paper to. Maybe it was because I booked through Travelocity and therefore didn't get all the perks...I also booked a room with 1 queen bed but got a room with 2 double beds (and I was on a romantic trip with my boyfriend). All in all, I would definitely stay at the Mulberry Inn again but I will take my Renuzit next time.
This hotel was at the edge of the Historic District of Savannah and very convenient for all parts of old Savannah. The best features of the hotel for me included:1. two computers set up in the lobby for free use by patrons2. very friendly & extremely helpful front desk staff (they tracked down information I needed and booked a taxi for me)3. free daily tea from 4 pm to 6 pm for all guests; located in the decorative lobby and served with cream cakes, sandwiches, cookies with a piano player and a blazing fireplace4. a highly rated and extremely tasty Sunday brunch; it was visited by many Savannah residents, so its reputation must be widely known5. one company's tour bus stopped out front and another company's bus stopped behind the hotel; this was extremely convenient for toruing6. parking is convenient and easy to use7. the room was quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable8. a lovel courtyard with a fountain and tables for drinks.I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.
The Mulberry has a great atmosphere and location- a lot of charm. The entertainment, decor, etc is very quaint. Nice to have a bar and restaurant available. The room was surprisingly big. I think that if we had stayed maybe 3 nights, we never would have noticed the bad points! Unfortunately we did begin to notice, staying 6 nights, that maid service was spotty except for the last night, the room had a weird antiseptic odor every time we walked in that we couldn't identify (we didn't notice it any more after being in the room a few minutes and so were able to put up with it), meal service was suspende a few times for no apparent reason, and of course the parking fees really built up. Having said all that, none of this really bothered us the first few days...
The staff was great, the room was more like a suite - large, airy, spotless - and the courtyard and lobby are lovely to simply in at the end of the day. The entertainer they have, Sidra, is great, too. My husband and I highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed 9-20-07 thru 9-22-07. At check-in the room rate my husband and I we were quoted and the price charged per day changed by about 4 more for the room, I asked if they accepted AAA and was told yes, and the price was the same absolutely no change or adjustment made on our room rate. Then proceeded to our room with the bell-hop and inserted my key into the door, someone else was there before us. Apparentley a gentleman was already checkin there. Back to the front desk and advised them of what happened and they could not believe it (the bell-hop advised that this had happened twice that nite). The room was dusty smelling and dark not well lit. The next day we had breakfast in the restaurant, I ordered off the menu and my husband had the buffet at a cost of 30, when we asked the manager about the cost they advised that was the rate, this meal included 1 skillet meal, coffee and the buffet. The housekeeping service did not make the beds up but left them with the bed spread pulled up in the position we left them in, my drinking glass I used the nite before was still on the bed table with Pepsi in it and the ironing board was still where I left it. At any rate this was the 4th time we had stayed in this hotel and very disappointed in the service and staff, we will not be going back.
