Amenities
Kulaniapia is a large parcel, 22 acres and features our 120-ft. waterfall which is viewable from almost every corner of our inn. We are perched at a cool 850 feet above Hilo with panoramic ocean and waterfall views. We have over 2 miles of walking trails that wind along the powerful Waiau River, a 2-acre botanical garden with a 3-tiered waterfall. All baths are private and entirely finished in Italian marble. Come to the hospitality of the Inn at Kulaniapia, built exclusively as a Hawaiian bed & breakfast with resort amenities.

This is a really neat place to "get away from it all." I never slept better in my life! The grounds are really nice... not fancy and manicured nice - but...
Expect the worst and you won't be disappointed.
The "innkeepers" are odd. Of the couple who own the property, I only met Len. He seems to be a OK enough guy, but really isn't a people person....
Whatever you do, don't stay here...sleep in your car, it would be better

I see the complaints here and they all seem to do with the credit card charges. I had no issues, and the staff was great. But its the place its...
Too expensive !!!
This B&B should be cheaper by 45 percent. It falls under the category of "milk the tourist". There is Chinese imitation furniture, but no flair...
Once found this is a nice facility in a spectacular location. Do not, I repeat, do not fail to get directions to this place before arriving in Hilo as the staff will not answer their telephone or respond to emails. We did not receive a confirmation email with directions and none of the locals in Hilo who we talked with had a clue as to the inn's existence or location. But the good news is that this gem at the end of a single lane road above Hilo is nestled on a hillside right next to your own private waterfall and botanical garden; the rooms are comfortable; the breakfast is lovely; and the only noise you are likely to hear is from the waterfall. This is a great spot from which to strike out for daytrips to the volcano, Hilo, and the other falls in the area. Return at sunset to enjoy the falls and get a great night's sleep.
