We would stay here again when visiting Chicago. Very nice, clean, quaint, older hotel that has an excellent location near the L that takes you directly to downtown Chicago. We stayed in a suite. There is no pool if your kids want one, not sure you would spend time in Chicago doing that though.

This is a great place and one of the best values in Chicago. Great kitchenettes, service, convenience, class and all in a swank neighborhood, too! It's also VERY close to downtown! I always recommend this place when I know people who are looking to stay in Chicago. Why stay downtown for 175-200 a night when you can stay at a place like the Carleton (which is an easy match for any three star downtown) for in many cases half the price? You're only 10-15 minutes from the loop by train, so why waste extra cash on your weekend retreat? Five stars.

I usually stay in chain hotels but my favored hotels were not in the area. I am aways hesitant to stay in non-chain hotels but need not have been in this case. I was very happy with my room, the friendly staff, internet access and the restaurant is great. I will stay at the Carlton if ever in the area again!

Excellent Hotel for the price. Almost all of the staff was friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds and very clean room. The Hotel is just one block from the L and a 20 minute ride into downtown Chicago. Also a short walk to shopping and quality restaurants. This is a very scenic, clean and inviting neighborhood. My only complaint or suggestion would be I wish there would be something they could do about the vagrants that roam the sidewalks at night panhandling. All and All -- and excellent value. I?m making the Carleton my regular hotel when in town.

What a great location. One block walk to the CTA stop, just a few blocks from a good selection of neighborhood restaurants and shops, and best of all, if you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, it is just a short drive to the charming Oak Park area where FLW designed so many homes. The Carleton is in a leafy suburb but with direct access to the heart of Chicago.
