A gem!
Great location full breakfast and nightly happy hour make this a great place to hang your hat in chicago and for $89/night you can't beat it!
Our stay was part business, part shopping. Great location! We've stayed at this hotel several times before. Great for travel with kids: b'fast is included & all rooms are suites with two sleeping areas.
Just came back from a 2-day stay in Chicago. I enjoyed this hotel thoroughly. Like other reviewers said, the lines can be long for breakfast, but they did move and I stayed in the summer with lots of families staying there at the same time. The hotel is beautiful, and the restaurant is pretty good. Room service is fast - breakfast arrived early one day and a late-night snack also arrived in ~15 minutes. My only complaint (and it's VERY MINOR) is that I had upgraded to a corner suite, and I had expected to have at least a few more windows in the living/work area. There was just one window and it was kinda small. So if you get a corner suite, it'll be quieter, but don't expect a terrific view.
We had 6 people staying in one suite (2 doubles plus pullout couch) -- pullout couch was completely unsuitable for adults, but 10 and 7-year-olds thought it was great. Breakfast is great but crowded after about 7:30 AM. Great location -- walking distance to free trolley stops and Navy Pier, grocery store across the street, AMC Theater around the corner. Did not use the pool, but it didn't appear to be getting a ton of use. Housekeeping never left us enough towels and washclothes, even after several requests. One night they never brought more even after I walked to the front desk and asked. Concierge was seldom there and only slightly helpful. Biggest problem with Chicago was finding activities to entertain girls ages 17, 15, 10 and 7 -- older ones liked the museums, younger ones were bored and annoying.
This was a great place to go with family. The Embassy includes the best complimentary breakfast that I have ever had at any hotel and a free cocktail hour. My kids loved the pool and the video game system in every room. We stayed in a two room suite, perfect for large families than need their own space. I loved this hotel and will try to only stay at the Embassy for now on. It is also in walking distance of Navy Pier and many of great resturants in downtown Chicago.
Reviews right on the ! Pleasant, comfortable and wonderful hotel located downtown Chicago. Valet parking was but worth every penny( 48.00 self parking was 39.00) but we didn't use gas (4.19 p/g) and got truck out for luggage/checkout and put right back. Room rate of 139.00 was GREAT! Continental breakfast was huge & saved us lots of time and money since it was on site and free. It was like a full service cafeteria. We missed out on cocktail hour but people seemed to be enjoying it. Elevators were extremely fast. P. J. Clarke's () left a lot to be desired, the chicken sourdough sandwich was good but avoid the hamburger (dry) and guacamole and chips (chips greasy and cold and guacamole had funny taste we couldn't figure out and fries were undercooked and limp). Room was on corner of 8th floor with no view of lake but really large and quite. Went to Cubs game 5/26/08 at 1:00 pm (Cubs win!!! 3-1 over Dodgers) and was rather easy getting to the Red Line Train (left hotel @ 11:30 got there @ 12:15) takes you straight to Addison. Walk up Grand 5-6 blocks to State and the train entrance at corner. The best way to get to Wrigley Field thats for sure!!! We have driven around for past games looking for a parking spot near Wrigley only to have to pay a fortune for parking and still having to walk forever! This was best 2.00 spent per person each way (8.00 total for round trip for 2). Advice! Buy your round trip tickets in advance on a card out of the machine before leaving to the field there should be an attendant if you need help. Be very patient leaving Wrigley lines are long and train stuffed to capacity.
The location is great. Easy access to both Mag. Mile and Lakefront/Navy Pier. We even walked to the theatre district but it's a bit of a hike. Rooms are standard Embassy suites set-up and perfect for a family. But our family (with kids 12 and 13) decided after this trip that we're done with the Embassy suites experience. Lines for breakfast were exceedingly long by 8AM with lots of families and small kids running around. Lines for evening "happy hour" were even worse and we opted to skip this part of the "experience" and enjoy a drink in our room. There is a grocery/deli just across the street so you can stock your room refrig if needed. Pool was very small and crowded. Even the fitness center had a long line if we weren't there by 6:30 AM. On the plus side, very friendly and helpful staff and super fast elevators-we never waited more than 30 seconds!
At this upscale, all-suite hotel chain, guests enjoy abundant amenities and a free cooked-to-order breakfast.
In 1984, the first Embassy Suites location debuted in Overland Park, Kan. Today, the property's luxury accommodations make it an id
