we had a 2 month booking payed full in advance, we went 3 weeks a head of tiem to see where we was staying so we know where to go..we was shown a room that was told was ours, balconey side on st phlips st, well when we chaeck in wewas put in adiffrent room then what we was told VERY UPSET SORRY NOT PLANING ANOTHER STAY THERE
The location of this hotel is fantastic, a mere three blocks from all attractions and ambiance that the Jackson Square area can offer. There are tons of restaurants, galleries and shopping within easy walking distance of the hotel. For the price we paid, we expected a bed and a shower and that was pretty much what we got. We were in one of the few unrefurbished rooms in the hotel, as that was the only option available when we booked. The exposed brick and historic feel of the building were nice and the courtyard was a quintessential slice of New Orleans. The rest of the hotel experience was pretty lackluster. There were no matress pads on the bed, which struck me as odd. The front desk person was unsure if she could provide us with two extra pillows to supplement the two extremely thin ones that came with the room. Thankfully, she was able to muster them from somewhere. I don't think our room saw a vacuum the whole time we were there, the sink/tub were never cleaned out, and wet/dirty towels were not always removed or replaced with new ones. Noise in the courtyard in the morning and evening carries right into the rooms, so this is not a location for light sleepers. So, book at this hotel if you want a good location in the French Quarter and aren't fussy about your hotel amenities. Otherwise, there a number of other boutique hotels in the French Quarter and the Garden District where you can get a lot more bang for your buck.
No parking available, besides the street (if you're lucky for that). Key did not work on any rooms, so the front desk person had to keep letting us into our own room...pay all that money and no self governing with entrance into your own room!!!! Room has all white walls and NO DECOR. Did not get room service. Floor was flithy. However, the bathroom was beautiful- marble floors!
we was there just this past weekend, oct 4th - oct 7th
I have stayed at the Hotel Royal 3 times now I keep Wanting to try other places, But for the and the LOCATION (1 blk off Burbon St) and the warmth of the staff. Can't be beat.....I'm sure my next trip to New Orleans... I'll stay there again....
We were promised a great room, but told the Jacuzzi tub was being repaired, and we needed to be placed in a different room. The room was ok until later that evening. They failed to tell us it was above a downstairs bar. We would not get to our room until 1 - 2am, and the bar would still keep us up until dawn. The staff could have cared less about our trouble. Called to speak with the manager, who happened to be out of town, and never received a return phone call. Would be a good choice if you get what you receive, and the staff cared about their guests.
