Barely Acceptable. Expect Rude Staff.
Tiniest rooms ever. Desk staff was extremely rude and almost verbally abusive. Location is both superb and safe. Decently clean, just very old ...
To the negative reviewers: go find the Ritz. You paid the cheapest rate for the BEST location! This hotel was in the MOST excellent location. My boyfriend and I went down to see the Red Sox and stayed here thinking we were going to encounter "hostel" like accomodations...not so. Upon arrival, they locked up our bags until the room was ready allowing us to get some shopping on Newbury Street done (which is 2 mins away!). Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. It was small, but we barely spent time in it and we didnt need a suite. The bathroom was clean, everything worked, we never heard a sound from another guest the entre time we were there. We had a positive experience.
We spent 3 nights at the Milner. After reading some of the terrible reviews, we were skeptical of this hotel. After arriving, we found the hotel staff more than friendly, especially Jackie (sorry if the spelling is wrong). She was very helpful and extremely courteous. The room we had was very large and quite clean. The hotel is within walking distance of everything we required, including Fenway Park. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. This was our first trip to Boston and we absolutely loved the city. It will not be our last and we intend to stay at the Milner again. I guess you can't please everybody.
Good location in the heart of the theater district where we came to see Eddie Izzard at the Orpheum, a pleasant walk through Boston Common. Parking available in Raddison garage right across street, and easy on/off interstate highway a few blocks away. Hotel is old, well maintained, small, and a very good value, at least half the rates of other downtown hotels. Many interesting international and value minded domestic tourists and business guests. Our first stay, and we'll be back.
At least there was a private bath. TINY. If the bed was a full size instead of a twin, it would not have fit. Clean, convienient, safe. Basicly the only room available on what turned out to be a sold out weekend. Book early & be safe.
Room small. Everywhere you walk you either walk uphill or downhill and I am not talking about outside this is your room. Toilet above leaked all over our bathroom. Very small room. No where to put anything. They made you fear of using any of the soaps/shampoos etc. What can I say. Nasty place. Though the staff was friendly except for the watchdog watching everything that was being eaten at breakfast.
Despite having reserved weeks in advance with credit card, they gave away my room without notice on the first and left me stranded. The second night they did get me in and I found a cramped and dumpy room. At least the sheets & bathroom were clean, but that's the only good thing I can say. Internet service didn't work for me either. They couldn't even give me a receipt on checkout because of a broken printer!
