I usually stay here at this hotel when I go out to Vegas because it is in the middle of the Fremont Experience which is important to me. I went to the front desk person who checked me in and he said that he was sorry and we couldn't change rooms because they were already sold out and nothing was left. This was at about 2pm and housekeeping was still there. Also, upon losing about 6000 in the slots there, I began to win about 5 jackpots of 1500 each. I have in fact made 2 new reservations for January 25th and will hopefully be satisfied this time with my stay. As I stated, this is my favorite place to stay here so I will be back. It's just too bad that after 2 months of complaining to management, they have NOT yet returned ANY of my calls. I am calling tomorrow morning and will get to the bottom of this and will hopefully be compensated with some kind of comps for my next stay in a couple weeks. All travelers, this is a great hotel and casino. They have a poker room, keno, slots, cards, craps, roulette and more. Everything you need is either there or just outside the door at a different casino located just feet within walking distance to the hotel.
This hotel was just average and some things about the room were below standards than what would be expected even at this price (* dollars/night). First of all, the check in was not very smooth at all. They had a problem finding my reservation even though I had booked it 2 months in advance. It's a good thing I had the paperwork with me or I would have really been in trouble. There were only 4 elevators for the entire hotel which at times were a problem as far as waiting. They were also very small and could fill up quickly. The room overall was average at best but the biggest problem for me was in the bathroom. First, the towels were thin and small and it's a good thing I was staying by myself b/c it took at least two of them to dry me off (and I'm not that big a person). The shower took a while to get warmed up and was also not very clean looking. There were cracks in the walls and tub and the toilet didn't flush very well either. The bathroom's poor shape is what prevents me from recommending this place. On a more positive note, the staffs and employees were especially nice and the buffet staff was extremely pleasant. I really liked the casino but the sportsbook was a bit of a disappointment. It's a good place to stay for the price but there are some hurdles you must overcome and look past. 2/5 stars
The hotel rooms are very dated and appear to not have been updated for a long time if ever. We were in a non smoking room and the cigarette smoke coming through the air conditioning vents during the mornings and evenings into the nights was so bad that if we had been smokers we would not have had to buy cigarettes but just breath in the smoke. The beds were hard and our sink knob leaked but they did fix it after we told them about it. Another couple at the front desk had a water leak in their room that they described as water shooting out. The front desk staff while diplomatic were unwilling to assist with the smoke problem and just stated that someone must have been smoking in a non smoking room. This was not what was causing the smoke problem. On check out we were asked how our stay was but before we could answer another employee interupted the employee helping us and she seemed to just ask because she was required to do so but did not care what our response might be. If you are a smoker and are looking for a great priced hotel, this is a great place to stay. If you are a non smoker, I would suggest spending more money and staying at a nicer hotel on the strip.
The Fitz is prbably great place if all you want is a place to sleep. Our room stunk, the eleveators sounded like they were going to fall apart, the parking attendent was rude, and the beds are hard (flat pillows too). The price is right, but I would say the extra cost of being on the strip is worthwhile.
I highly enjoyed my stay at the Fitzgerald. The room was well equipped and attractive, especially for the low price. The only minor quibble I had is that the daily maid service was iffy. The room got cleaned, but twice we had to call down to get more supplies, like soap and shampoo. On the plus side, these were delivered quickly and with no hassles. The attached casino was very nice and the service there was excellent. I would stay here again.
Overall, we really enjoyed the Fitz, we were on the 29th floor with a terrific view. For an older hotel, it was clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. Everything downtown was in easy walking distance and Fremont Street experience right at the front door. Only drawback was the beds were only doubles not queens and very hard. For those who don't like to walk much or are unable to walk much, this is the place.
Great Gaming at The Fitz
We always make our way to the Fitz to play blackjack when in Vegas. The atmosphere is that of 'Old' Vegas instead of the one found on the Strip...
The Irish theme was tastefully toned down, and gamblers still count on lots of good luck.
In ShortFor a short period of time, Fitzgerald's was the most shamelessly cheesy casino downtown. In 1996, the casino revamped the entrance
