Never Stay Here--Avoid this place like the plague
I have been a loyal Rio customer for the past twelve years. Based on my last two stays, January 2008 and July 2008 I will never stay at the Rio...
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the Masquerade Tower; our suite was on the 23rd floor; the view at night is fantastic. Floor to ceiling windows, 600 sq. ft, fridge, huge bathroom with granite, double sinks and full wall mirror and makeup mirror -60/night!! Enjoyed the pool area, went to the spa, 22 per person or they have a 3 day deal, spa has gym, includes bottled water, juice, fruit, sauna, steam room, relaxation lounge, full bathroom with amenities. The light show only performs Thurs-Sun, the buffet is one of our favorites. Go to 1/2 price ticket booth and get the Rio buffet tickets to save 8/person. Condo sales people are at most of the hotels, just ignore them and they leave you alone (you'll know them by their black jacket and they ask "where are you from? how long are you staying?" Just keep walking and it's not a problem. Vegas is always much cheaper if you go weekdays. We've stayed at several hotels but the value for the price Rio is the best. Since we rent a car staying less than a mile offstrip is no trouble. Renting a car is actually cheaper and much more convenient than taxis or the monorail and all the walking. The room was exceptionally clean. The mattress was a Serta perfect sleeper (firm), not as comfortable as ours at home but we slept fine. Only complaint was it rained for a few minutes the first day about 1:00 and they closed the pool the rest of the day. It was open the the rest of our visit though. Several spas at the pools, several pools, towels are nice, plenty of lounge chairs, service was fine. We'll definitely stay here again.
Loved the hotel, but I hate being approached by people trying to sell something and we were hit up every time we went to our room. Why they set up the sales desk right where guests walk 5 times a day I have no idea. I disliked it enough that I won't stay at the Rio again. I loved everything about the hotel, but that desk for timeshare or whatever they are selling hit my last nerve. At one time the bell man that was following me told me I should report them to the Management of the hotel. I feel the management probably knows what goes on, they have cameras everywhere. For such a nice hotel, why do they do this to guests.
From the registration, to dheck out, everything from the room and dining, I had a great experience. This is a great place to stay!!
Non-smoker requests non-smoking room as spouse highly allergic to smoke. Non-smoking rooms go to smokers while we suffer in a room reeking of smoke. They insisted on payment for rooms up front, or we would have moved to a better hotel. Broken glass in hallway. Dirty dishes for days in hallway. If there was a "minus star" rating, this place deserves it.
We were in town for a wedding. The Rio was a good place because of the suites. It gave us a place to relax (lots of space, a couch, a lounge chair, and 2 sinks ...one in the shower and one outside of the shower, and a dressing area) for all the oldsters... Sound buffers were excellent. ... Voodoo Lounge was a hit for all the young wedding party..they came from all the other hotels. Staff was always friendly and helpful. There is very little for kids........although I don't think that Vegas is a "kid" vacation at all. It was sad to see parents wheeling sleeping children in strollers through casinos.
I have stayed here before in the past... I thought my room was of lesser quality than the other times. I asked for a non smoking king but there wasn't anything available. OR so I thought, the gentleman who came to the counter right next to me during the final moments of my transaction, had no problem securing a king non smoking. Additionally, there was a non uniformed hotel employee walking my floor all night during my stay. I asked for clarification from the front desk but no one gave me a clear answer. I wonder if there had been a crime on the floor...
