The Luxor is experiencing upgrades which was of no inconvinience to me. I was offered an upgrade to the tower for extra money but I chose to stay in the pyramid. The room was nice and the air worked fine. All of the staff members I came in contact with were couteous and professional. The pool is a nice area to relax and have some fun. I would stay at the Luxor again.

The concept was a cool, the whole King Tut thing. They were doing construction in the hotel. Bright and Early 7AM you were woke up by the noise. The carpets were nasty. The rooms smelled of smoke and we asked for a non smoking room. The A/C wasn't working and it was hot in the room My sister and I stayed one night and left. We went to the MGM Signature where it was much nicer and the A/C worked. Stayed in the penthouse and it was less than the rooms at the Luxor. If I ever go back to Las Vegas that's where I will be staying. Deffenatly do your homework before you stay at the Luxor there are other hotels that are nice for the same price.

A major portion of the atrium level is under construction/refurbishment. When we arrived we noticed the rooms were a bit on the ratty side. Worn furniture and dirty carpets were the first sign of a second rate hotel. I called to complain and the hotel apologized and offered me a food credit. We also found out that the hotel will undergo a major overhaul beginning in 2009. Nonetheless the stay was enjoyable. We didn't gamble but the casino is quite big and there are all sorts of games to play. The sportsbook was being remodeled. FOOD: the foodcourt in the atrium level was quite adequate with a McDonald's a Nathan's hotdogs (which also served breakfast), a Quizno's, Starbucks, and a Swensen's Ice cream shop. Food was on the pricy side but you can't expect more from vegas. The buffet was horrible. We arrived at 9:45 and they were already picking up food. When we enterted half the salad bar was gone. At the carving station, I had to ask for 2 pieces of prime rib since the first one was sliced about 1/8" thick. We felt ripped off. Excalibur has Sherwood which has a M-Thurs. special of Steak for * POOL: The pool layout was nice. If you want to go sun worshipping I suggest you find a chaise early since they go quickly. The most coveted spots are those against the hedge. LOCATION: This hotel has access to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur via indoor cooridors. You can continue through Excalibur to New York, New York hotel and take tyhe catwalk to the MGM Grand where the monorail station is located at. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the monorail station.

We thought the Luxor was really nice. We would have liked to have stayed closer to the monorail. MGM grand is the last station where the monorail picks and drops off. We had to go from Luxor to Excalibur to MGM in order to catch the monorail. The buffet was not that good, but the Pyramid cafe was very good, and never too busy. We had some drinks at "Cat House", "Liquidity" and most certainly the pool bar, and all were really nice. The pool was nice, but after reading the in-room magazine, I learned that there are several other hotel pools that seamed to be much nicer. I know we will be returning to Vegas, so we will just try those next time. Overall good hotel, but we will try something new next time.

The rooms and servive sucks first we get there the room that we had gotten they did not have so they but us in another room for a night then put us in our room the next night then when we got in that room the a/c did not work right it would not even keep the room cool during the day and also the bathroom vent did not work on the way checking out we told them about these issues and they acked like they did not care one bit. We will be goin back to vages next year but will not be saying with them at all.

 by  anonymous  on  2008-07-25

This was the third year we have stayed at Luxor. Two years ago we loved the Egyptian theme. This year it has been almost entirely ripped out. Soon there will be nothing left of the beautiful, exotic atmosphere. There is no longer anything special about this hotel. It was very sad to see the changes and watch the workmen destroying statues and to see the Tut exhibit gone.
