Beautiful hotel with a warm, friendly staff. Carlos, the concierge, was exceedingly gracious and pleasant to our 6-year old son. Other members of the staff were very friendly and helpful, as well. Close proximity to the Statue of Liberty and the Financial District with a view overlooking the harbor. A bit of a walk to the nearest subway station; however, the weather was lovely while we were there so the walk was pleasant. The bed and the pillows were too soft for my liking.
First-off, I booked the executive harbor view suite...which is way more than we typically spend on a hotel room but it was our wedding anniversary and I wanted to surprise my wife with something out of the ordinary...well, upon check-in we find that online travel website upgraded our room to the Liberty Suite which was double the cost of the room that I booked! The room had two bathrooms. It was enormous. The room was completely unreal with a picturesque view of New York Harbor and Lady Liberty herself. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We had a blast and enjoyed every minute of the stay. The staff was beyond helpful and coutrteous...the whole experience made any past hotel experience and will MAKE any future hotel stay pale in comparison.
Wonderful accommodations! We were upgraded to a Harbor view without our knowing until we went to our room. Staff was excellent, very helpful and eager to please. 3 night getaway felt like 6 nights because of comfort and great service. Dining at hotel was better than expected and the concierge gave us great recommendations when we ventured out. Highly recommend this hotel, especially for a couples weekend!
The service was as you would expect...after all...you're at the Ritz. Extremely nice and helpful personel. The city can be a little hectic. While some may feel the distance to shops and restaurants a disadvantage, we liked the feeling of peace we felt at the Battery. Tranquility in Manhattan...not an easy find.

We stayed there with our three teenage children, my sister, husband and mother in-law from 7/29 thru 8/1/06. This is a wonderful hotel. Their staff is just the best! They are so friendly and courteous. I've stayed at other diamond/five star rated hotels and I must say the service received from this location is SUPERB! You must go!! The staff really makes your stay very enjoyable and treats you like royalty...One of the BEST in Manhattan!
