The Hotel is not redesigned (or at least the room we were given #302) and was not even clean. The amenities that are listed are not even present and the staff is rude. We checked in, and were only given a room with one double bed for 4 persons. I showed them the confirmation that there were 4 persons and was told that unless I called back and specifically requested two beds, I would only be given one. Common Sense! Who would book a room for 4 with one bed? We played hotel room switch-around for an hour before finally giving up. During this we were presented with a room with one double bed, and a couch (that was not a pull out), then a room with a double bed and an air mattress on the floor. I paid for a room with two beds, not a couch or an air mat on the floor. The staff was rude and not willing to assist in the matter as they insisted it was either my own fault or travel website. Overall, the room was dirty, the staff rude, and the amenities listed misleading as there was not a flat screen TV, no CD player, no vending machines, and the room was not redesigned.
I was very pleased with our hotel selection! The rooms were a little small, but really how much time will you actually be in your room in New York! We were close to the subway, close to Central Park, close to eating places, close to shopping, and right outside the door on the corner was a hotdog vender :) We really were happy with what we picked! The beds were very comfortable and the pillows and comforter were very fluffy.
The location was superb... the staff was courteous and friendly... the room was very large, but a little tattered in appearance... there were four of us, and each day we only got THREE wash cloths... the glasses were not replaced each day... the room was never vacuumed once the entire time we were there (we entered and there was a tiny piece of paper in the middle of the room... we decided to leave it to see if houskeeping would handle it... it was still there the day we left... makes you wonder what else didn't get done...) The beds were very comfortable and appeared fresh, however, there was no bedskirt on one of the beds and the one on the other bed was askew the entire time... no top sheet between the comforter and the bottom sheet (made me nervous, because we've all heard the stories about hotel comforters...) Still, if you want a place to stay in the heart of Manhattan, and you're not anal (like me) it would probably be okay... if you get room 308, look for the piece of paper on the floor.
Had problem w/ confirmed reservation. They blamed the travel agency, and said I could get room at their CURRENT rate. I had already PAID for the room! Called the travel agency, who got me rooms. They didn't have my double room reserved, so my family spent the vacation in 2 single rooms down the hall from each other. They didn't give us clean glasses daily. The lobby is the LEAST inviting I have EVER seen! To sum up. Bring print-outs of all confirmations, travel agency phone number and, your laptop!
Staff is very friendly. OPIA great place to hang out and have a great apple martini :)
Spent two weeks here the weather was fantastic. The locals were very friendly.
