I have been to NYC numerous times and this is the best experience I've had with a hotel: clean, great service, and comfortable.
I can do without the chocolates and luggage tags, but better housekeeping would be appreciated. Wash those windows, thay made the whole room seem dingy. Clean the closet drawers & shelves, make sure there is no gunk on the pictures & hairdryer. I'm glad I brought a travel washcloth as I used it to tidy up the room, including the windows, as best as I could before settling in.
Reserved the presidential suite for 900+ per night. The hotel tried to switch us to another room at the same price. Upon much complaining, the manager stated that it would be better if we stayed somewhere else. We were attending a blacktie event and did not have a choice but to stay. Suites are very small and do not live up to thier website. Service staff is great, front desk and management are aweful!
Not all amenities listed on website were offered (robes, chocolates). Modern bath, large shower, water pressure a bit low. Fabulous down comforter & duvet, good pillows, but bed is VERY firm. Pet-friendly means you might have to hear a barking dog. Not a place for kids. Good room service food.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at On the Ave. All staff were friendly and helpful, the room with two double beds wasn't too small, and there was plenty of counter space in our bathroom. Our mattress was uncomfortable, but that would be our only complaint. They have a great deck with decent views and the hotel is in a good and safe location if you need to be on the upper west side. It's close to Columbus Ave where there's good shopping and lots of restaurants.
I live in NY but wanted to spend the night in the city. The location of the hotel was good. Close to a lot of stuff. Did not get a chance to go to the outdoor patio because I forgot about it and no one mentioned it. We also got late check out at no charge. That was a plus. Enjoyed my stay.
