This is a reasonably-priced, nice little boutique hotel on the upper West side. The adjacent restaurant, Nice Matin, is a popular brasserie, the neighborhood is packed with restaurants and bars, and it's a block from the subway (1 line). There is plenty to do, and the place is clean and lovely, if a little tight in spots.
The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained; the staff is friendly. There are many good restaurants on Amsterdam, around the corner from the hotel. 3 blocks to Central Park; l block to subway; 1 block to the Natural HIstory Museum. Avoid the craziness that is mid-town and stay on the upper west side.
Great location, but SO NOISY.Try to avoid lower level rooms facing Amsterdam Ave.Pleasant staff, good food."
The rooms are very clean, quiet and comfortable. The bathrooms very nice, great shower pressure. Staff was efficient and very friendly. However,I would avoid the restaurant. The food is good, but not great and expensive. After we had breakfast they said the computer was down and they calculated our check with a tax of 20% instead of the legal NYC Tax of 8.5%. When we complained to the shift manager, he insisted on the 20%, which was bogus. There is a diner across the street from the hotel where you get a breakfast for 5.
If you want a clean, quiet hotel on the Upper West Side - very close to Subway and Central Park -Lucerne is great !
Although the location is prime and the room was nice enough, I didn't get a bit of sleep because my room was right over Amsterdam Avenue and I heard loud noise from cars, trucks and pedestrians ALL NIGHT LONG! I don't think I will choose to stay at this hotel again, since I really need my sleep!
