Guess I was one of the lucky ones based on the bad reviews I've seen. I had to make a sudden trip to NYC, a 23-hour roundtrip drive from Boston, and this...
We had an exact same experience as Chris who has written a review in June. We also reserved this hotel for 4 people on 6/5/09, and arrived there only to...
I had a horrible experience at this hotel. I put in a reservation for four people in a standard room- I was under the impression that we would be getting...
around everythink,
This HIEX was just right for a friends getaway! The staff was very friendly and helpful in many ways. We could walk to pretty much everything we wanted to go to in Mid-town Manhattan. The hotel was just a couple of blocks from Times Square, 5th Avenue, & the Empire State Building. Yes, the rooms were on the small side, but who's going to spend all day in their hotel room in New York City?
This was a nice clean hotel with very friendly service with only one problem. There were 3 adults and 2 small children and the room was just too small for us. I know there were 5 people with us but I would recommend there be only 2 to a room in this hotel.
I picked this hotel solely from the reviews on this site and I have to say that I was not dissappointed! As a first timer to NY, I was concerned with the location and safety of the hotel. Both were excellent. The hotel is only 5 or 6 blocks from Times Square, yet it was silent at night. And I mean silent! The beds were exceptionally comfortable for hotel beds. It was fresh and clean and decorated really cute. Size wise, the rooms are smaller than a normal holiday inn, but for the price, it was perfect. The staff, especially Skylar, was very friendly, helpful and courteous. I was really happy with my hotel stay. Also, the breakfasts were really good, with eggs bacon sausage, the whole bit! It's a clean, simple and friendly place to stay in the city and so convenient to times square, 5th avenue shopping (its right off fifth ave!) and broadway plays. We had a great time.
I booked the Holiday Inn Express after reading the reviews, and was expecting a very small room. The room exceeded my expectations. It was small, but not tiny. This hotel is about a 6 minute walk to times square. There are not a lot of rooms so it is pretty quiet and you don't see a lot of other people. The room was clean, bed comfortable, we did not hear the people on the side of us, and enough room for two people. There was a desk in the room and a chair on one side of the bed. Make sure to request a room away from the elevator. For the money, this was a great hotel and in a great location. Plus you get a continental breakfast which in NYC is not cheap.
This hotel has the most convenient location in the city. The rooms are small, but who cares? We were only in the room to sleep and shower, then we were out on the town every day. The continental breakfast, which was included ""free"" with the room, was as good as any of the 25 Continentals available at the upscale hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be close to everything.
