My wife and I spent a low budget weekend getaway in Lake Placid at the Swiss Acres Inn. We found our stay at the Swiss Acres comfortible and enjoyable at a very reasonable price. Our room was small, but clean and quite. My wife thinks they need a little more color on the walls of the bathroom, perhaps some stenciled wall trim. The free hot breakfest was good and additional items could be added for only a few dollars more. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the Lake Placid area. We will stay there again when in the area. The Swiss Acres is not a four star hotel but if your looking for a low priced home base for enjoying all the great outdoor activities Lake Placid has to offer I would recommaned it to you.
This was suppose to be a romantic get away for my wife and I on our 6th year wedding anniversay and it was the biggest travel disaster of my married life. There was soppose to be an indoor pool , yeah right !, across the street and in a public health club with very restricted use, about 2 hours a day. The room was small dirty and the woodwork was unfinished....In order for me to get in and out of the bathroom I would have to turn side ways as the doors were only 2 feet wide. If yo are looking for a nice place to take your lady, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE

For the price, this was a decent place to stay however it is a few miles North of the downtown area of Lake Placid. We stayed on the second floor in the back building, and did not have any problems with the room. It was quite small with a double and single bed taking up most of the room, but is was functional and satisfied our needs for a one nights stay. There is a dining room attached that we did not try for dinner, but found the included breakfast to be just fine (there was also a buffet available for a small charge as well). If you are not interested in staying in downtown Lake Placid, and your stay is not more than a few days, we would recommend it as a good value for the area.
We stayed in one of the newer chalets at this property. The cabin was spacious and the cleanliness was acceptable. The setup of the cabins is great for families with children or for friends traveling together. The proximity of the hotel to downtown and area activities was great. The downfall of this hotel was the staff. Front desk staff was not friendly or eager to assist you with travel needs. Soon after checkin, we discovered that we were given incorrect information by staff regarding transportation services in the area. The English of all the staff we interacted with was limited, which could have contributed to this miscommunication. The restaurant staff, while more pleasant, was terribly discorganized. The quality of the breakfast food was moderate, but we didn't even try eating dinner on site due to the staffing and service woes we encountered here. Overall, I'd say our stay here was adequate, but not overly impressive.
