The Atherton Hotel is a Georgian-style gem that originally opened in 1950 as the Union Club. Boasting the latest in comfort and convenience, it even offered ice water on tap in every room. Over the past fifty years, the beloved property has hosted countless alumni and visitors and served as the backdrop for cherished family traditions and memorable events. Unlike most of its counterparts, this gracious hotel is also a first-class, hands-on classroom for students of OSUs School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration. A recent 6-million renovation has imbued the hotel with a stately elegance and sophistication in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each guest room and suite features a cozy down bedding system and 400 thread count sheeting; all equipped with high-speed internet access, luxurious robes, and DVD players. The Atherton has three beautiful meeting areas. The Carreker Lounge is a warm and inviting formal reception room which features a fireplace and a state-of-the-art digital player piano. The Jorns Executive Conference Room offers high-speed internet connection amid wonderful woodwork in an executive atmosphere. The Joullian Vineyard Wine Tasting Room is the perfect place to host a casual reception or executive retreat. Rich leather seating along with wing-backs, sofas, surround sound and an outside veranda make this the perfect spot to relax. A brand new part of the Atherton is Stillwaters newest, most exciting restaurant, The Ranchers Club. The Ranchers Club offers an appealing atmosphere of rich hardwoods, soft leather seating, eye-catching paintings, and bronze sculptures which accentuates every exacting detail. What a great hotel! It's location is great if you are attending activities on the OSU campus. The rooms are very comfortable and stylishly decorated. The bed is the best bed I have ever slept on. The Rancher's Club has the best steaks and is now on my list of favorite restaurants.
