We arrived at about 8pm on a Monday, and asked about dinner options on check-in. A, who checked us in, gave us 5 restaurants covering 4 different cuisines within 6 blocks of the hotel, while noting that on Mondays, many things in Portland are closed. The staff were remarkable attentive and friendly. The room was meticulously appointed, and the bed very comfortable. The 1930s-1950s movie theme of the hotel is charming. We easily walked from the hotel to all of SW and NW Portland; very convenient location at SW 15th and SW Morrison. We got multiple restaurant recommendations from the staff, each one very lovely. The Pillow Menu, iPod Menu, and the Spiritual Menu were each very thorough. Pillows from very soft to very firm are available upon request - we found the ones on the bed quite satisfactory. The iPod menu lets you request an iPod pre-programmed with a genre be sent to your room to plug into the iPod-ready clock radio in the room - the iPod functionality of my partner's iPhone worked in the device. I noticed the abscence of a Bible or Book of Mormon (i've stayed in a lot of Marriotts) immediately, then found the spiritual menu. On request, they will bring you a religious text of choice, whether Vedic, Zen, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or other. The valet parking was well worth it. Anytime we needed the car, they pulled it around for us within minutes. They offer you chilled water on arrival, and when you leave the hotel, which is nice touch. Someone is there to open your car door for you ninety percent of the time, whether coming or going. We both recommend Hotel Deluxe to anyone; it's well worth the money.
I'll get the 1 negative out of the way first, the room was a little on the small side. having said that it was well-appointed and very comfortable. The food is very good and the staff is more than willing to recommend dining options other than the hotel's. The service is some of the best I've ever encountered. The staff was always available, knowledgeable about the area, competent and very friendly. Room service, the restaurant and the lounge were excellent. The hotel has a convenient downtown location and is easily accessible from the Portland expressways. We truly enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again, if we're ever in the fine city of Portland again.
YOU MUST see for yourself!!! This renovated boutique hotel in Portland has it all and more. The Hollywood movie theme (30's thru 50's) is throughout the hotel from when you enter the lobby to all the details in your cozy, intimate room. Nothing has been left out for your comfort and safety. Details just kept on impressing us......and clean, clean clean. We also liked the safety features, in the elevator you need a room card to activate. The staff are ALL consistently there to help, in a low key manner. Very friendly and remember things like saying Happy Birthday to one of us on our fourth day there! The rooms have iPod docking stations, safes, gorgeous ceiling to floor blackout curtains, butler bar, and Aveedo toiletries in the darling bathroom with a great modern shower head. We had a Kind bed with layers of wonderful down comforter, soft sheets and throw blankets. The pillow menu is great and we had the greatest selection of them on our luxurious bed. Gracies Restaurant is off the lobby and both eating in the lovely dining room or room service from them is perfect. The breakfast is delivered on a great retro tray and hot! Nice strong coffee in a carafe and fluffy eggs with crisp bacon! Late night is fun eating on a deco tray in the lobby one of the best Angus burgers I have ever had. For hospitality, friendliness, low key attention with high standards, and the fun of a themed renovated boutique hotel you must stay here. Close to everything, with the Metro right around the corner too!
We arrived late and ate at the hotel bar. The food was surprisingly good. We loved the overall look of the hotel which is 1930's Hollywood. The rooms are small but well appointed and my bed was very comfortable. I would make an effort to stay at this hotel again.
The hotel staff is fantastic! young, enthusiastic, professional, and always willing to assist. Our room was large with two queen beds, tastefully decorated (think Restoration Hardware), well lit with an extremely large two sink bathroom. The hotel was spotless. It is well situated near free public transportation. Would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
My stay at this hotel was a great experience and I look forward to returning. The ambience was cool, the furnishings beautiful, the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I was able to use their business room to check my e-mails. Didn't use the fitness room but it was very clean and had the equipment I would use. The restaurant, Gracie's, has excellent food and the Driftwood bar made me feel like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra would walk in any minute. Prices are not exorbitant. I especially look forward to returning for their movie nights. It's not in the heart of downtown but within walking distance to downtown and the Pearl district.
