Worst experience ever!
Portland's Thriftlodge on Burnside is bad news all around. For the price that we paid ($77), you think we would get better service but the pla...
The Thriftlodge was an extremely scary hotel to stay at. When we closed the door you could see light shinning through so we had to sleep with a chair up against the door just to feel safe. The pool ended up having an underground leak that we didn't know about till we got to the hotel (which made for a very sad 5 year old). The beds are extremely hard and the room looks nothing like the picture. The bathroom sink didn't work that great. We were told we could make free local calls but when we tried to call a place for food the phone wouldn't work so we had to use our cell phones. Over all it was a terrible place to stay and not worth the money at all!
I could not have selected a hotel that had a more convenient location for me. The parking lot to the place that I celebrated New Year's Eve at could be seen from my hotel room window. Despite the wear and tear on the room, the facility was pretty clean. My only complaint about the stay was the fire alarm that went off at @ 2:45 in the morning.
Not fancy, but comfortable. Maid service was a little sloppy (noticeable by the 3rd day), but I would go there again.
Enjoyed quick, easy bus transportation to downtown, etc. Walked or rode bus to Laurelhurst Theater, restaurants, etc. Great coffeehouse 1 block, great pub (Lucky Labrador) within walking distance. At night, stick to major thoroughfares or walk with a buddy.
