Amenities
Best Western Gettysburg is down the street from the Wills House (where Lincoln composed the Gettysburg Address), a quarter-mile from the famous battlefield, and approximately 55 miles from Harrisburg International Airport. The historic Best Western Gettysburg Hotel has a tradition that dates to 1797 when James Scott first opened his tavern. In the summer of 1863, the hotel played witness to the battle at Gettysburg. Nearly a century later, the hotel served as President Dwight Eisenhower's national operations center while he recuperated from a heart attack at his nearby farm. Hotel amenities include Centuries on the Square's casual dining and McClellan's Tavern, a full-service, English-style pub. The hotel also offers room service, free transportation to the Battlefield Bus Tour, complimentary afternoon tea, dry cleaning, laundry facilities, free weekday newspapers, safety deposit, and 24-hour front desk service. All rooms feature cable TV, in-room movies, free local calls (under 30 minutes), dataports, voicemail, clock radios, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, and hairdryers.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel on our wedding night. We paid well over 200 for our room which was promised to be 'the best'. Well, we were seriously disappointed. The wet bar was nothing more than an empty mini fridge and the jacuzzi was a normal sized bathtub with a few water jets and a clogged drain. The side panels of the tub were even falling off! We had one window in our room that was extremely narrow and looked out onto a few heating ducts and vents. Our room was also located above one of the conference areas and that night another couple was having their wedding reception in that room. So much for romance!! We were kept awake well past midnight listening to the heavy bass of rap music and people partying. We would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone!
Of the many times I visit Gettysburg every year, we always seem to come back here. The place is clean, the building beautiful, and the staff very friendly. I usually come to town with a group of friends and sometimes we rent rooms within the hotel, and sometimes we rent a room in the guesthouse so more of us can fit into a single room and we have a small kitchen. They are always very accomodating and friendly. I took my children for their first trip to Gettysburg this weekend and they thought the guest house was the best place they've ever stayed. My youngest daughter got sick overnight, and we had to go to the front desk for more sheets. They were awesome about it. They even said they hope she feels better. The worst thing I've ever experienced with this hotel is that they are usually not ready if you show up at 3, which is check in time. But if you show up around 5, there is usually no problem. Yes, parking has a fee, if you don't take a few minutes to go to the desk and ask them to validate your ticket. They are always friendly and do it with a smile, even at 3AM. I think the place is an excellent value for the money you pay. No, it's not a 5 star resort, but you're not paying those prices, either. The restaurant and the tavern both have excellent food, and boy can they make a martini. And while you must be in the lobby of the hotel to use Wi-Fi, and not in the atrium, it still works. I'll stay here every time I come to town, whether with family, friends, or on business. I recommend it to everyone.
This use to be our favorite place to stay. over the years it has gone down hill,They now charge you for parking. and the room rates vary according to what is in town. single cup coffee maker why even bother.
This was our first visit to Gettysburg. We actually had plans on staying at another hotel but when we checked in, we immediately checked out. It worked to our advantage. This place is magnificant. The service is wonderful. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. My family had a wonderful experience here. My husband and I are planning to go there again in the fall.
We stayed at this hotel while looking at colleges. Everything was clean and spacious and extremely convenient. We opted to stay an additional night and travel to our next city in the morning!
Although we only stayed one night, the old time elegance of this hotel was wonderful. Centered in the town square was wonderful. Easily walk to everything. The hotel planned our tour of Gettysburg battlefield, and it went of with ease. I loved Gettysburg and hope to return again for a longer stay.
