The Hotel itself was very clean, the staff courteous and helpful. The room was more than I expected.I reserved a basic king room and was given a junior suite . The views were spectacular. My only complaint was the lack of info on the trolley I could have saved a few dollars on taxi fare to local attractions. I found the trains and busses conveniently within walking distance from the hotel. The property does not have a breakfast but, there is a Starbnucks in the lobby; a few blocks down there was a Dunkin Doughnuts and a fabulous family owned diner. The seafood restaurant in the lobby of the hotel was pricey but, excellent. Afew minutes ride away there is an abundance of restaurants. There was a 24.00 a night parking fee for your car but, there are parking costs anywhere in the city; the staff was very fast to retreive the car when requested.Overall it was a good stay.
Arrived during a festival with street closures. The closed streets surrounded the hotel. We were on the phone for about an hour and a half (I am not exaggerating on this) getting wrong directions. Being told to turn down streets that were blocked. Told to get back on the freeway east for two miles and turn around only to find the exit blocked. Told to double park on a crowded street and walk to the valet. Told to find a place to park on the street, walk in and go get my car later. (there were no spaces as the festival was in full swing). Hotel had no clue how to guide guests to the hotel. Finally I asked if I could pull into a garage behind the hotel where the valets park the cars. Was told this was OK and that a valet would meet us. Parking attendant told me to leave or she would be calling the police. A valet showed up and told me to go back and turn down some streets that were blocked. Finally asked the valet if he could just take my car. We got our own bags out and schlepped them down the stairs and around the corner. When we arrived the requested room type was not available. I was travelling with my 15 year old daughter and needed two queens. Requested a rollaway, but it never arrived. Requested to speak with a manager on duty, but contact was not forthcoming. Used the toilet once and it blocked up. This was the last straw. We made reservations at a nearby hotel and checked out immediately. Nobody assisted with baggage or loading of baggage into car. Cancelled my reservation for July and September. Had a wonderful stay at the nearby Renaissance.
We stayed at the Biltmore for 2 days in April 2008 (a mom and 2 young kids, along with a friend and her daughter in a separate room). We prepaid on the travel website for a run of the house room for around 135 and when we saw the room, realized it was way too small for our needs for 2 days (a king size bed and no room for much else) - would have been ok for one person or a couple maybe, but not kids. But for 30 more per night we upgraded to a jr. suite which was fantastic - 2 king beds with flat screen tv plus a separate room/sitting area with tv, fold out sofa, etc. Tons of space and nice elegant decor. We loved it! It was a great deal for all the space we had and had a nice luxurious feel while still being pretty kid friendly. Our friends were right next door. Starbucks in lobby is very helpful. Good central location although downtown Providence is a little dull. Valet parking took a while to retrieve car from garage every time we needed it but overall we had a great stay. The hotel has a somewhat old world feel and beautiful lobby. Hairdryer in bag in bathroom is a pain - minor gripe but you have to use it in the toilet/bathtub room instead of out near the sink which might have been easier. Would definitely stay here again!
I decided to stay at the Providence Biltmore cause I thought it was part of ""the Biltmore""chain.(which it isn't but still just as nice) When I arrived I was greeted by a doorman and my bags were already on a cart. I was brought to the front desk and they already knew my name! The lobby looked so charming. When I got to the room it was so nice. I walked in and there was 2 big beds a nice size living room. In the bedroom a huge Plasma screen. All I can say is it was the best night sleep i have had in years! I will return to the Biltmore real soon.
they need a rubber mat in every bathtub.
Within walking distance of the Brown University campus and great places to eat. Had a great view and a luxuriously comfortable bed. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Would definitely recommend it to others and would definitely stay there again.
