WE relly enjoyed our stay. The food and exspecially the drinks were excellant(great bartender!) We really enjoyed the outdoor pool and the hot tub after sking. I would request a room towards the back our room was noisy in the early am. Overall a great trip!
For a first time trip to Vermont I must admit I fell in LOVE with this hotel and surrounding town. My boyfriend and I stayed in a luxury room in the Mansfield House. Our room was exquisite with a beautiful 4 poster bed, fireplace and jacuzzi. The cd player was a nice feature and the classical music cd(left by hotel) set a relaxing mood. We didn't go for skiing but there's a free bus that takes you up to Stowe Mountain (many restaurants and gift shops along the way). The mountain views are breathe-taking! I was a bit disappointed that the heated pool was closed and our fireplace didn't work the first night, but it was quickly fixed the next day. House keeping was wonderful-not the usual constant knocking at odd hours. The food at the WhipGrill was delicious. The gas station mart was very convinient for late night snacks since everything closes fairly early. The deli next store served affordable breakfast and lunch with great coffee. Everyone we met were kind and helpful. Cars even stopped for us to cross the street, which is rare for a city girl like myself to see. It was so refreshing to experience a town where friendly, kind-hearted people still exists. We will defintely stay here again and again.
I had a wonderful stay at the Green Mountain Inn. It feels like a cozy inn, yet has all of the amenities of a full service hotel. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. I particularly enjoyed their restaurant "The Whip". It was by far one of the most affordable options in the area, adn the food was great!
Green mountain Inn is an historic Inn right on Main st in Stowe village. It has a very good restaurant , The Whip Grill on premises, and you can walk to quite a few breakfast places, deli's, coffee shop, and other resataurants. pool was nice with comfortable chaises, but could use a few umbrellas. you can also walk to the bike rental place for bikes and the rec trail starts right in town behind the church. rec trail beautiful , with spots along to rest, eat and take a dip in the river. We stayed in one of the buildings in the back called the Mansfield House. two room suite was lovely, clean, well appointed, and very quiet. great bed and bedding. Laughing Moon chocolates and their homemade ice cream right around the corner. perfect!
The hotel is nice, and quaintly historic. It is priced a bit high, even in off season, and when we arrived, the clerk did not wish to honor our arrangements, made just days before. It took some insistence and good notes on the making of the reservation to ""encourage"" him to agree. The presumptive add-on the bill of a tip for housekeeping is a bit pretentious, even though, on quizzing, it can be removed. Generally, though, we had a good experience. The rooms were clean, if small, and the bed comfortable.
I've stayed here a couple of times with my fiancee. We loved it so much we are having our wedding there. We didn't find fault with any part of the hotel or services that we used. The staff are very helpful.
